When the hologram vanished, Slade got up and showed her a menacing smile. He turned abruptly and took off in the direction of the Hub, where the Prime Council would be protected behind several layers of security.
Curling up into a ball, Anna sprang off the ground and landed upright with her fists clenched. She turned on her heel and ran after him. “Seriously?” she yelled. “You're not even gonna dignify me with a 'Bwahaha, my evil plan has come to fruition speech?'”
Slade paused just long enough to draw a pistol from his belt holster. Quickly, he rounded on her with his arm extended, the gun pointed right at her chest. Instinct kicked in, and Anna called upon her symbiont.
