A flash of green sped from left to right in front of him. One of the other cannons was targeting him. The next shot struck the shuttle's port side and jostled him in his seat. On his screen, Jack saw that the shields had not been strong enough to absorb all of the blast. He had taken some damage.
Another shot pounded him.
The alarms started screeching.
Jack pitched the shuttle's nose downward, away from the other ship. Stars wheeled by in his window, and then all he could see was black. Jack gave it a quick count of five, and then he flipped the shuttle around.
The Ragnosian ship slid into view in front of him, framed against the backdrop of the planet below. Those bloody guns were still firing. He saw several streaks of green coming toward him.
