Chapter 86-1

729 Words

Ava's POV Grandma woke us up early with a loud knock on the door. Even before I opened my eyes, I could feel the urgency in her movements, the faint excitement in her scent. And I knew immediately, she was planning something. After breakfast, she smiled at me. “Ava,” she called warmly, “you should go with Victor to drop Jasper off at kindergarten. Then head to the office with him.” There it was. I sat up slowly, already piecing it together. She was trying to push us together and keep us close, let proximity do the work. If this were a hunt, it would be a clever trap. “Ava, I know you’re eager to get back to porcelain restoration,” Grandma continued, placing a bag of packed lunches on the table, “but Victor said your hand needs surgery. Don’t push yourself. Just take it easy for now.”
