Ava's POV
“Based on the current evidence, you’re not connected to this,” Anderson’s voice was even and controlled.
He slid a folder across the café table toward me. I stared at it for a moment before touching it.
“The driver recanted,” he continued. “He said he was not acting under your orders. He claimed he falsely accused you out of spite.”
My fingers stiffened on the folder.
Anderson’s sharp eyes never left me. “He said he chose Laura because she was untouchable. He believed targeting her would ensure your conviction and punishment.”
My wolf let out a low growl inside me.
Anderson paused, then added in that same measured tone, “I intended to question him further.”
Something in his scent changed.
“But this morning, he took his own life in prison.”
I went still. My pulse thunder
