Ava's POV A figure broke from the shadows before I could properly register her scent. It was Nora. The next second, she collided with me, her arms locking around my shoulders with force. “Ava…” Her voice cracked against my ear. “This is all my fault. I should’ve protected you. I should have stopped you from going onto that stage.” Her scent was frantic now, fear layered over anger. My body stayed still in her grip. It was dark outside. She hadn’t registered my wound yet.
