Ava's POV Victor didn’t answer. He simply lifted his coffee again and finished it slowly, as if my question didn’t matter at all. The quiet stretched unbearably long. Finally, he set the cup down. “Jasper gets out of school at five,” he said. My brows pulled together. “Make sure you pick him up.” The command landed like a stone. “I’ll be home for dinner.” And that was it…no explanation..no answer. Nothing.
