THE PERFECT TRAP

CHAPTER 10

So far, Bismarck had defied every attempt to make him panic or abandon the employment.

Angela knew this for a fact.

So she had begun scheming to carry out some other plan that would be easier and safer for her.

Earlier that day, Angela was convinced she had finally found the answer to every problem standing between her and the life she wanted.

Bismarck had become too dangerous.

He knew too much. He had refused to cooperate with her, and his growing closeness to James made him an even greater threat. As long as Bismarck remained in James' household, Angela could never feel completely safe.

She needed to remove him.

Not temporarily.

Permanently.

Angela had already been working on another plan with Redbullet, but the more she thought about it, the more dangerous it seemed.

If Redbullet were caught by the authorities, his arrest could lead investigators back to her. The consequences could reach far beyond the destruction of her marriage. She could be implicated in a serious criminal plot.

She couldn't take that risk.

The Redbullet plan had to be cancelled.

There was a much safer way to deal with Bismarck.

She would make it appear that he had attempted to r**e her.

Unlike the Redbullet plan, this would leave Angela looking like the victim and Bismarck looking like the criminal. If the authorities became involved, he would be the one facing the consequences while she would appear completely innocent.

With James returning from the United States, she had seen the perfect opportunity.

Her plan was simple in principle but devastating in its consequences.

She would create the appearance of a struggle. Her sleeping dress and pants would be torn, and she would make sure there were visible signs suggesting that she had fought desperately to protect herself.

Then she would scream.

Loud enough for the household staff to hear.

When they rushed to the scene, they would find her struggling with Bismarck, crying for help and accusing him of trying to force himself on her.

The evidence would appear obvious.

The witnesses would be genuine.

And James would have little choice but to believe them.

Bismarck would be finished.

Angela had thought through every detail.

There was only one person she had deliberately excluded from the plan.

Donald.

She had considered involving him but quickly rejected the idea.

Donald had to remain innocent.

If he knew about the plan beforehand, he could become a weakness. If anything went wrong, he could expose her.

No.

He had to discover the supposed attack exactly as everyone else would.

He had to hear her screams, rush to her rescue, and see the torn clothes and apparent injuries with his own eyes.

He had to believe Bismarck had actually tried to r**e her.

In that way, Donald's testimony would be genuine.

Angela almost admired the perfection of the idea.

She wasn't creating a witness who would lie for her.

She was creating a witness who would unknowingly tell the truth about what he believed he had seen.

Once James heard Donald's account, Bismarck would have nowhere to hide.

Angela was certain of it.

Bismarck would be gone.

Her secret would remain safe.

And James would once again belong entirely to her.

There was only one thing left.

Timing.

Angela knew she had to act before James returned. That was why she had spent the day attending to the preparations instead of going to the airport to receive him.

She knew James might be disappointed, but she considered that a small price to pay.

Once Bismarck was out of the way, everything else would fall into place.
