There was no mistaking it. The noticeable gap between the door and its frame was right there. I felt the cold winter winds blowing through it, opening the door further and solidifying my resolve.
This was an opportunity I couldn't pass up. I wasn't sure what awaited me behind those doors, but I knew I had to be careful, and I knew I could get only one chance at this. One chance to get the hell out of here. Without thinking anymore, I pushed forward and swung open the door, my feet carrying me faster than my mind could think. I didn't have the time to observe or take note of my surroundings; all that mattered was getting out of there, finding an obvious exit.
