Kiran, Willow, and Jackson were slow to file out, with the latter bringing up the rear of their sluggish procession. Jackson’s knuckles were strangely white on the door, and he looked between Meriwa and Walker before finally closing it, his shoulder barely out of the way. Walker stood behind his desk, arms crossed, as he waited for the click. And for the sounds of footsteps outside to fade into nothing.
