Everything went pretty much great after that. Cherry never thought she could have so much fun with Jamie but she found herself enjoying the night not wanting the night to end.
"I told you" Jamie said quietly into my ear as he wrapped her in a warm embrace and whispered into her ear.
"What did you tell me?" She asked as she giggled into his chest.
Somehow she had convinced Jamie to let them try some Jell-O shots on their way back and she got tipsy from trying one too many of them, Jamie strangely took only one.
"That you'd want another date with me" he said as his deep husky voice sent shivers down my spine. He looked at her intently and she could tell that he was leaning in for a kiss. But Cherry didn't want a kiss, it was their first date and she didn't believe in kissing on the first date.
"It's getting late."
She called out abruptly as she took a step back.
Jamie composed himself and he gave her a small smile. His arm was still casually resting on her door and she could see every definition of his muscle as his shirt hugged his body. He had perfect lean but muscular body which suggested that he worked out at least twice or thrice in a week.
Cherry started to take his jacket off. He had given her to shield her away from the cold while they were at the village and Cherry decided that it was time she gave him back.
"You can keep it. It looks better on you anyway" Jamie commented as he stood up straight, his hands in his pocket.
"I will see you another time Cherry. But for now, have a goodnight rest" he said as he leaned in and planted a chaste kiss on her left cheek. Cherry's cheeks warmed at the contact and she blushed furiously as Jamie's kips lingered for longer than a second. Every time he touched her body it sent her whole body on fire. It was almost as if she was yearning for his touch.
"Good night Jamie. Thanks for today. I had fun" she said as she watched him slowly retreat and back away.
The moment she closed the door Cherry started to jump in glee. She had the best date ever!!!!!
She was still jumping when she hit her head on her bedroom wall and decided it was time to go to bed.
The soft sound of shuffling and objects being tossed around woke Cherry up. She was still rubbing her head and trying to reach for her glasses on her bedroom drawer when she made out a figure right in front of her.
She yelped a little, startled and shocked as she pulled up the covers.
She was still recovering from the shock until she found out that it was her ex boyfriend Henry.
"Henry! What are you doing here???" She asked as she got out of bed slowly.
Henry Joseph Smith, was her ex boyfriend. He was twenty six years old and worked as a computer programmer. He was the definition of nerd and geek all rolled together and he even had the looks to match. Cherry guessed everyone was a bit right when they said we went well together.
They were together for four years, four long years and it just dawned on Cherry that they were much more better as friends than people who were in relationships because there was just no spark between them.
"I came here to pick the rest of my stuff. I couldn't find my Luke Skywalker costume and I assumed I left it here, plus some other things. Besides I have a key."
Cherry rolled my eyes.
"You know it's creepy, you don't just go into people's apartments and start moving stuffs. By the way I'd like my key back please." She said as she rubbed her temple, a slight headache was already creeping in.
"I'm sorry. You weren't picking your calls so I assumed I could just let myself in. Are you okay?" he asked with concern lacing his voice.
Cherry shrugged. "I'm fine. Just an headache. Are you done?"
He nodded. "Yea, just need to pack it up and I think I left one of my mum's Tupperware in the kitchen. Mind if I go get it?"
"Sure!" She said as she followed Henry, anxious to get herself a cup of coffee.
"No school today?" he asked as he rummaged through the drawers and Cherry start making a fresh batch of coffee for herself.
"Midterm" she replied.
He nodded eagerly.
"I can whip you up some pancakes if you'd like? I'll make them extra special."
he said with a bright lopsided smile.
And she remembered exactly why he was her boyfriend for four years.
She nodded her head. "Thanks Henry, I'd appreciate that."
Henry always made the best pancakes.
She walked over to the bathroom and brushed her teeth as quickly as she could before going back to the kitchen.
He was done with the batter and ready to start pouring in the mixture.
"How have you been Henry?" Cherry asked honestly as she got herself a hot cup of coffee with generous amounts of milk and sugar.
"Oh! everything is going great. Been spending a lot of time at church. The youth fellowship is going great by the way. And work is cool. The guys miss you." he replied nervously.
Cherry didn't miss Henry's friends, yes Henry was a nerd and a geek and he hung out with people like that but Cherry found out that his friends were just weird people. Really weird people. And they gave her the creeps. While she and Henry were dating, she tried as much as possible spending little time with Grooper and Yakub.
Few minutes later, Henry placed a plate of stacked pancakes with a smiley face made out of whipped cream and maple syrup dripping all over it.
"Thanks Henry" she muttered as she dug into the delicious pancakes.
"I got a girlfriend." Henry said quietly while she was still stuffing her face with pancakes.
She looked up at him and see that his hands were practically shaking.
"That's cool. That's good to know, I'm happy for you."
She continued eating her pancakes. She did find it weird that he got a new girlfriend barely three months of their breaking up but she didn't care much anyways.
"Judging by the jacket in your room, you seem to have moved on pretty well too" Henry said quietly and Cherry could have sworn she detected pain in his voice.
"Yea. It's a friend's" she replied slowly, watching Henry's reaction closely.
"Really intimate friend then for him to leave such an expensive leather jacket in your bedroom." he added.
"I don't know what you're trying to say, but I'd appreciate it if you give me my keys back before you leave."
"And I have to go out soon, so I think it's best you leave."
Cherry said slowly and Henry gulped hard.
"Well, I guess I'll start going now."
He said as he stood up slowly and Cherry nodded.
"Thank you for the pancakes Henry. They were wonderful."
Henry nodded. It was a genuine compliment.
He gave her back her spare keys and Cherry saw him out of her apartment.
