Logan
I’d been stuck in this god awful room for more than 24 hours now, so when the doctor had informed me this morning that I could go home today I had nearly kissed him. My pack needed me, I had already been gone too long. As for Esme, I was more torn than ever about what to do. I knew I was in love with her, if I had it my way she would be attached to my side everyday for the rest of my life. Yet she couldn’t get far away enough from me, she was constantly rejecting me breaking my heart piece by piece. “You ready to go?” Mason asked as he picked up my bag. “You bet” I replied, happy to say goodbye to this place. I’ve got to say, if anyone asked me where the last place I’d want to be on earth is, then this room was a top contender. “So I’ve spoken with the doctor, and although you seem to be fully healed he wants to keep an eye on you for a few days” Mason informed me as he looked down at the ground. “You know I have my own pack doctor at home” I argued. I did not like the way this conversation was going. “Look Logan it’s just for a few days, then you’re free to go home. You don’t really have a say in the matter, even dad agrees” Mason said, obviously uncomfortable with telling me what to do. “Your room is being prepared for you as we speak. As for your pack, I’ve spoken with Jack and everything is sorted. Dad sent some of our men there to help with patrols in case you get anymore rogue attacks.” It was as if he had read my mind, and I knew that I was fighting a losing battle if my father had got involved. Without saying a word I got up from where I had been sat on the bed and walked to the door. Mason looked at me raising his eyebrow. “Don’t worry I’m not gonna make a run for it, I’m complying with the doctors rules” I winked. “Now let’s get the f**k out of this place.” Mason followed behind as we walked down the corridor, hearing the moans of patients. “Did you have another attack? There seems to be quite a few men in here” I queried in concern. Mason nodded gravely as he pushed open the door leading to the reception area. If Blue moon were having more rogue attacks, attacks that their men couldn’t even fight off, then what chance did my pack stand right now? Especially without their alpha there to lead them. I would have to give Jack a call to check what was going on I told myself, making a mental note. “Did you seriously drive here? It’s a 5 minute walk” I said to Mason as I noticed his car once we got outside. “Well I didn’t know what state you would be in” he responded, opening his boot and chucking my bag in. I walked around and jumped into the passengers seat, feeling worn out just from that short walk. As Mason got into the car he looked me up and down before telling me. “Oh yeah by the way the wolfsbane they used. Well it was mixed with something else and it’s still in your system. You won’t be able to feel any pain from it now but your body is trying to fight it because it knows it’s there. You need to take it easy for a bit.” Great, so not only was I stuck here for a few more days, I was basically a prisoner not able to do anything. This was going to be even worse than I had thought I decided. Mason drove us the short distance to the pack house not saying a word. Probably wise of him I thought seeing as he had pissed me off enough today. Once we stopped outside the pack house we both got out of the car, Mason grabbed my bag and we made our way inside. “Mums already been running around making sure you’ll be well taken care of. She’s even arranged for your meals to be taken up to you so you don’t even have to leave your room” Mason chuckled as we walked up the stairs. “Please tell me you’re kidding” I rolled my eyes. It was official, I was definitely a prisoner. “No can do. I’m being deadly serious I’m afraid” Mason smirked now, knowing what a nightmare this would be for me. As we reached my old room he pushed open the bedroom door, coming to a stop. “Esme, I didn’t think you would still be here” he said as my eyes fell on her. “Oh you’re back. I was, erm, just finishing up. S-sorry Logan give me 5 minutes and it’s all yours” she stuttered as her cheeks began to flush. “No worries, take your time” I smiled at her. If this was the only time I could spend near her I would take it. “I’ve actually got to go. I promised dad that I would go to lunch with him this afternoon” Mason announced, his phone ringing in his pocket. “Shout me if you need anything brother” he finished as he walked out the door. I turned my attention back to Esme, who was finishing up with the duvet cover. She was so beautiful, even when she wore no makeup and had her hair thrown up into a messy bun. “Essie are you okay?” I asked, not being able to bear the silence between us any longer. When she didn’t respond, I let my body react without thinking. I walked over to where she stood making the bed, and let my hand caress her beautiful face. “L-Logan” she stuttered but she didn’t move from my touch. “Esme I know I shouldn’t, but I just can’t bring myself to stay away from you anymore” I confessed, as she gazed into my eyes, giving all the confirmation I needed. Before I could stop myself, my lips were against hers and the sparks flew through my body. I could never get tired of touching her. “I-I’ve got to go I’ll s-see you around” Esme stuttered as she pulled away. “Essie please” I pleaded as she began to walk away from me. “I’ll see you soon okay” she promised as she opened the door, shutting it behind her seconds later. I knew she felt something for me, it may not be the mate bond but the effect I had on her was undeniable. There was nothing that would stop me from fighting for her, and I wouldn’t stop until she felt the way I did.
Esme
I was more confused than I’d ever been. I kept telling myself I didn’t really want Logan, how could I want someone that wasn’t my mate. On the other hand, how could I explain the way he made me feel just by being in the same room as me. I had to find a way to be around him without falling apart, it’s not like I could avoid him forever. I hadn’t lied though, I did have somewhere to be. He was not meant to turn up while I was still there, that was the only reason I agreed to get his room ready. Well, and to help Calliope. I wandered down the hall towards the luna’s office hoping that i wasn’t too late. “Come in” Calliopes voice called as I knocked on her door. I let myself into the room and closed the door behind me before walking towards the settee and taking a seat next to Blaire. “Sorry I’m late, I got a bit held up with Logan’s room” I apologised as I sat down. “Oh it’s no bother dear, you’re just in time” Calliope assured me before pausing. “So girls the reason I wanted to meet today was because we’ve got another pack coming to stay with us. They have been under attack from rogues for a while now, and they just don’t have the resources to keep fighting them off. They’ve already lost too many men. This pack is important, it’s the pack my own mother came from so we need to make sure they are welcomed with open arms. Blaire this is a chance for you to practice the duties that will soon be yours. So, Esme I know you’ve been helping Blaire and I know you’ve helped me with things like this in the past. I’m trusting you two to get everything organised for their arrival” she announced, as me and Blaire glanced at each other. This would be Blaire’s first experience actually carrying out anything like this, and I could feel the nerves radiating off of her. “We’ve got it Luna. When will they arrive?” I asked. I knew I would have to be there for Blaire every step of the way for this and I hoped I was prepared. “Thursday morning. So you’ve got this evening and tomorrow to prepare” she responded, smiling at us. “I know you can both do this.”

Blaire and I had spent the rest of the afternoon discussing what would need to be arranged for the packs arrival. Once we were sure we had covered everything, we joined our families for dinner. We had all discussed what the packs arrival would mean for the blue moon pack, and Mason and James were going to meet with their men this evening after dinner to discuss it. The rest of the pack would be informed tomorrow morning at an announcement led by James and Mason. “How is Logan doing Mason?” Calliope asked her son after we had finally finished discussing the changes coming. “Well he’s not exactly over the moon about being stuck here. He’s worried about his pack” mason replied in between mouthfuls. I hadn’t even thought about how worried Logan must be being away from his pack for so long. He had already been away for days and now he wouldn’t be able to return for a few more. “I can only imagine. He is such a good alpha to that pack he makes me proud every day. I’ll pay him a visit in the morning once he’s had a chance to rest” Calliope said in response to the news. “I’ve already sent a few of our men to help his beta while he’s away. If it comes down to it I will send more. We have to do everything we can to help him and his pack whilst he is recovering. He’s just as stubborn as his father and if he has any reason to debate the safety of his pack he will go home” James chimed in joining the conversation. “We’ve just got to hope that Logan listens and stays put. Like you said darling, he’s as stubborn as you” Calliope acknowledged. “Are we any closer to knowing anything further about the rogues that have been attacking us? Especially the ones that were involved in the attack where Logan got hurt. The fact that they used wolfsbane is concerning” Calliope asked her husband. She was concerned for Logan, they all were. Even though he was on the mend, the wolfsbane still had an effect on Logan’s body for the time being. If they continued to use this tactic we could be in serious trouble. Logan was of alpha blood which meant that he was stronger than most wolves, so if he had been so affected, it was worrying to think about what it could do to our warriors. I let my mind go back to Logan, about the kiss we shared today. I knew that I should be focused on preparing, but my mind kept wandering to Logan. There was a pit in my stomach all day whenever I thought of him, and I needed to sort out these unresolved feelings I had towards him. It had been a busy day and I was exhausted so I decided to make my way to bed. It wasn’t until I had reached the landing and passed my bedroom that I realised that I was actually heading somewhere else. My heart was in my chest as I thought about what I was about to do. I had to know for sure what was happening to me. I took a deep breath as I held my fist up, tapping on his bedroom door. I could hear him talking to someone as I stood at the door waiting for a response. “Who is it?” He asked. “It’s - it’s me” I stuttered hoping he wouldn’t send me away. “Come in.”
