(Author’s POV)
Everyone was gathered in the living room, except for Amelia. After Owen introduced his brothers and Aurora, the room fell into a brief, awkward silence, no one quite sure how to begin the conversation.
It was Amelia’s mother who finally spoke, her tone polite but edged with impatience.
“Could we… first see our daughter?”
Owen gave a short nod.
“Of course,” Owen gave a short nod.
“Take them to Miss Amelia’s guest room” He turned to one of the maids.
The maid bowed slightly before leading the way upstairs. Amelia’s parents exchanged a quick glance, something unreadable flickering in their eyes before rising from their seats.
Without another word, both the father and mother followed the maid up the sweeping staircase, their footsteps fading into the upper floor.
