MATED TO MY ALPHA MATE
The first rays of sunlight pierced through the heavy curtains of Derek's mansion, painting the room in shades of gold and orange. Diva sat by the window in the grand bedroom she had been locked in, her fingers absentmindedly tracing patterns on the frosted glass. The events of the previous night played over and over in her mind—the glowing dagger, the rogue's ambush, and Derek's fury.
A knock on the door broke her reverie. She turned, expecting one of Derek's pack members, but was surprised to see Caleb entering with a tray of food.
"Good morning," he said curtly, setting the tray on a small table near the bed.
Diva glanced at him warily. "Good morning."
Caleb hesitated before speaking. "Derek wants to talk to you after breakfast. He’ll meet you in the dining hall."
She nodded but didn’t reply. Caleb lingered for a moment, then turned and left, the door clicking shut behind him.

Downstairs in the Dining Hall
Derek sat at the head of the long mahogany table, his expression hard as he read through reports from his warriors. His mother, Helena, walked in, her heels clicking sharply against the floor. She looked regal as always, her piercing blue eyes scanning the room.
"Another rogue attack," she said, her voice dripping with disdain. "You’re losing control, Derek."
"I have everything under control, Mother," Derek replied without looking up.
"Do you?" she challenged, taking a seat opposite him. "Because from where I’m standing, it looks like your Luna is more of a liability than a blessing. She’s attracting enemies to our doorstep."
Derek’s jaw tightened. "Diva is not the cause of the rogue attacks."
Helena leaned forward, her gaze icy. "She’s weak, Derek. She doesn’t belong in this pack, let alone as your mate. You need to end this bond before it destroys us all."
Before Derek could respond, Diva entered the room, her steps hesitant but determined. Her presence immediately drew their attention.
"Speak of the devil," Helena muttered under her breath.
Diva stopped short, her eyes flicking between Derek and his mother. "Am I interrupting?"
"Not at all," Derek said, motioning for her to sit.
Helena, however, gave a cold smile. "We were just discussing how ill-suited you are for this pack."
Diva stiffened, her hands clenching into fists. "I didn’t ask for this bond, Mrs. Blackwood. Believe me, if I could undo it, I would."
Helena’s smile vanished, replaced by a look of disdain. "How dare you speak to me that way? Do you have any idea who I am?"
Derek slammed his hand on the table, silencing both women. "Enough! Both of you."
The tension in the room was palpable as Derek stood, his eyes blazing. "Mother, Diva is my mate, whether you like it or not. You will respect her."
Helena scoffed. "Respect is earned, Derek. And so far, she’s done nothing to deserve it."
Diva rose from her seat, her voice steady despite the tears threatening to spill. "You don’t have to like me, and I don’t need your respect. But I will not stand here and be insulted."
With that, she turned and walked out of the room, her head held high.

In the Garden
Diva found solace in the mansion’s expansive garden. The morning air was crisp, and the scent of blooming flowers did little to soothe her turbulent emotions. She sat on a stone bench, her arms wrapped around herself.
She didn’t hear Mikael approach until he was right beside her.
"You look like you’ve had a rough morning," he said, sitting down next to her.
Diva sighed. "Rough doesn’t even begin to cover it."
Mikael chuckled softly. "Helena’s a tough one, but don’t let her get to you. She’s just protective of Derek and the pack."
Diva glanced at him. "Why does everyone act like I’m some curse that’s going to ruin everything?"
Mikael hesitated, then said, "Because you’re different. You weren’t born into this world, Diva. And the pack fears what they don’t understand."
She looked away, her fingers gripping the edge of the bench. "I didn’t ask for any of this, Mikael. I just want a normal life."
"Normal isn’t in the cards for you anymore," he said gently. "But that doesn’t mean you can’t make this life your own."

Back in the Mansion
Derek paced his office, his frustration mounting. Caleb stood by the door, watching him with a cautious expression.
"You need to get your mother under control," Caleb said finally. "Her constant undermining of Diva is only making things worse."
"I know," Derek muttered, running a hand through his hair. "But it’s not just her. The entire pack is questioning Diva’s place here."
"Then show them she belongs," Caleb said firmly. "You’re the Alpha. If you stand by her, they will too."
Derek nodded, his resolve hardening. "You’re right. It’s time I put an end to this nonsense."
Just as he said this, a warrior burst into the room, his face pale.
"Alpha, we’ve got a problem."
Derek’s eyes narrowed. "What is it?"
"The rogues... they’ve regrouped. And they’re not just targeting us anymore. They’ve attacked a nearby human village."
Derek’s blood ran cold. "Gather the warriors. We leave immediately."

In the Village
The scene was chaos. Houses were burning, and terrified screams filled the air as the rogues tore through the village.
Derek’s pack arrived just in time to intercept the attackers. The warriors fought fiercely, their howls echoing through the smoke-filled sky.
Derek, in his wolf form, led the charge, his claws and teeth tearing through the rogues with brutal efficiency.
Diva, who had insisted on coming despite Derek’s protests, watched from a safe distance. Her heart ached as she saw the destruction the rogues had caused.
Suddenly, she spotted something—or someone—amidst the chaos. A young boy, no older than eight, stood frozen in the middle of the street, his wide eyes filled with terror.
Without thinking, Diva ran toward him.
"Diva, no!" Mikael shouted, but it was too late.
A rogue lunged at the boy just as Diva reached him. She shielded him with her body, bracing for impact.
But the blow never came.
Derek appeared out of nowhere, his massive wolf form slamming into the rogue and sending it flying.
He shifted back to his human form, his eyes blazing as he turned to Diva. "Are you insane?!"
"I couldn’t just stand there and do nothing!" she shot back, her voice trembling.
Derek stared at her, his anger giving way to something softer. "You’re going to be the death of me," he muttered, pulling her into his arms.
As the battle raged on around them, Diva realized something had changed. She wasn’t just a bystander anymore. She was part of this world, whether she liked it or not.
And she would fight for it.
