Chapter 3.

Kassidy had dragged Kade up the stairs and they were both sat, legs crossed on her bed looking at each other. Kassidy spoke first.
'How did you know where to find me?'
Kade took her tiny hand between his.
'I shifted 3 days ago, my parents' he stopped abruptly, remembering that they weren't actually his real parents. 'They explained everything to me. I couldn't ignore the magnetic pull towards you any longer, I just followed my senses and they guided me to you. When I saw you in that courtyard, my heart stopped. I couldn't believe I had actually found you. I can't quite believe how alike we are'
He brushed the hair out of Kassidy's eyes to examine her features. They had the same green eyes, platinum hair, high cheek bones and lips.
'Remarkable' he whispered.
Kassidy grabbed his hand and pulled it against her cheek.
'Did you have a happy life Kade? Were your parents kind?'
A warm smile spread across his face.
'Yes, Brad and Marsha are good people. I grew up about 2 hours away from here, we were eating dinner when I shifted' he chuckled. 'There's still a lasagna stain on the ceiling'
Kassidy's eyes opened wide as she burst out laughing, making Kade fall about laughing as well.
'My sides hurt' Kassidy gasped as she tried desperately to compose herself.
Kade shoved her shoulder playfully as he stood up. The familiarity they already had with each other warmed his heart.
'I thought we were meant to be packing' he reminded her.
She reached under her bed and launched a duffle bag in his direction.
'Woah' her lips formed the perfect o as it hit him full pelt in the chest.
'Get used to it sis, we have super strength now' Kade winked.
There was a knock on the bedroom door just as Kassidy started shoving the last of her clothes into her duffle bag. Lorraine peered her head around the doorframe.
'Can we talk?' she asked sheepishly.
Kassidy motioned for her to take a seat next to her on the bed.
'I'll wait downstairs' Kade muttered before vacating the bedroom.
'I always knew I would have to let you go someday, I guess I just didn't prepare myself for how difficult it would be'.
Kassidy pulled her into a tight hug. She was still trying to process everything, it didn't seem real to her that she was being taken away from her home. The home she cherished, where all of her childhood memories were made.
'You will always be my mom, no matter what. I'll be back really soon, I guess Konrad wants us to meet the pack'
Lorraine sighed.
'Sweetheart, I don't think Alpha Konrad will let you come back to live here. Now that you've shifted, it would be dangerous for you' her eyes welled up with tears that were threatening to escape at any moment.
'But, this is my home' Kassidy croaked.
Lorraine rubbed her hand in circles over Kassidy's back, the tears now in full stream down her face.
'Please know that I love you Kassidy, I always have and I always will'.
This set Kassidy off crying also, cradling each other as they sobbed onto one another's shoulders.
'I'll find a way to come back Mom, even if it's only to visit. I promise'
They cried until their eyes were red raw.
'Are you almost ready?' boomed Alpha Konrad from downstairs.
'Come on then sweetheart, wipe your face, you have a whole pack awaiting your arrival' she mustered with an encouraging smile. Kassidy shrugged slowly down the stairs and threw her arms around Jerry who stood anxiously by the front door.
'I love you Pumpkin, be good now' he choked, desperately trying to hold back the tears as he kissed the top of her head.
'I'll see you soon Dad, love you too'
Kade carried her bags to the SUV as she strolled gingerly behind him.
Alpha Konrad opened the passenger door for her to climb in. Kade slid in from the other side to join her on the back seat. He grabbed hold of her left hand as she sighed and used her right hand to wave goodbye, indifferently, to the people and house that she once called home.
The car sped away into the night leaving two broken Foster parents behind.
