I began to drive. I needed to go to a place where I would calm down and laugh or something that does not have to do with work or Stephen. Then I picked up my phone again and Dad's number, but it wasn’t connecting. I didn’t know why so I called Kyle instead. He picked up almost immediately. Kyle was the human-turned-vampire friend I had. He lived in the pack as a werewolf but no one knew he was a vampire. When we were younger, we would sneak off and head to hospitals to feed. More like a steal, though. “Hey, bro,,” he said. “Hey K, where are you?” I asked as I waited for some schoolchildren to pass. “I’m at work; I’m about to leave,” he said.
