BITTEN

The next day was different. After the Alpha left his room yesterday, he didn't return, and I stayed the whole night alone. I was glad that he didn't return and used it as an opportunity to gaze at the night sky. This might sound crazy, but I feel safer here as a vessel than living in a rusty breeder's cage. At least, I got to wear soft and clean clothes. Sitting by the window sill, I gazed at the sky scattered with white clouds. I finally got to see it after years of being trapped in a cage. A knock sounded on the door, disrupting my line of thought. I grew weary, presuming it was the Alpha at the door. But when I unlocked the door, a beautiful, tall woman with a slender figure and red hair stood before me. "So it is true, Knox is harboring a girl in his room," she said with a surprised expression as she stepped into the room. I backed away from her, frightened by her presence. She scrutinized me up and down, circling my body until she was done with her observation. "What is your name?" She asked, her voice softer than before. "Nina." "And where are you from?" "I...I was captured from a small village on the outskirts of the city." "Captured? What are you? A palace maid?" "No, a breeder," I answered and she widened her green eyes in awe. "Knox brought a breeder into his room? Is he sick? Does he look like he is dying?" She asked all questions at the same time. I didn't know whether to answer her or remain silent. Lilith once told me never to speak before a royal, noble, or elite because it would get me in trouble. "Answer me. Why are you in his room?" She raised her voice, mad at my silence. "I...I... don't know," I muttered. "Hah, so a man that never associates with the opposite gender randomly picked you out of your cage and kept you in his reason with no reason. Did he ask you to have his babies?" She blurted, causing my face to turn red in embarrassment. "No...no, I...I... don't know," I stuttered, moving away from her. "Don't back away from me! Answer my question or I will..." "You will what?" A voice grumbled behind her. She stiffened. "Knox." She called with a frightened voice. So his name was Knox. Alpha Knox. I glared at the woman completely ignoring my presence. "Who permitted you to enter my room?" He growled with a terrifying voice that made me jolt in fear. "Don't be mad Knox. I am sorry if I have offended you. I just wanted to know if the rumors about my brother were true." She trembled. So she was his sister. Now she mentioned it, I could see the similarities. Although her hair was red, contrasting his thick black hair, they had the same eye color. Hers was a lighter shade of green and his was darker with a mix of black. In all, she was the sunshine version of him. "Get out," he grumbled coldly. She dashed out of the room at his command, and I was left alone with him. The door slammed shut instantly, and his eyes changed into crimson red, terrifying me as he closed the gap between us. "What was my second rule?" He growled darkly. I shook in fear as I thought of his number one rule. "N-never... to s-step out of the room," I stuttered. "And what did you do?" "I-I let some...in." I breathed out. "Come closer," He ordered. I did and he grabbed my arm with a force that slammed my body to his chest. I closed my eyes, expecting to feel a sharpness on my arm, but felt nothing. My tensed muscles relaxed, and just when I opened my eyes, he tilted my head and bit down on my neck. I screamed and he tore away from my skin and looked at me with amusement in his eyes. "You screamed. What did I warn you about being loud?" He questioned, digging his nails into my arm until he drew blood. "I...I... please... forgive me." I trembled. "From now on, you are prohibited from begging. If I say die, you die. That's what a vessel is for," he said with a dark voice before he bit down on my neck again. I shook under him, struggling to break free from him, but he held me down and continued to inflict pain on my skin. When I couldn't take the pain any longer, I let out a loud cry, breaking his rule again. I didn't care if he would punish me for it and continued to scream as he drank from me. As time passed, I began to lose my strength, and my voice became hoarse and dry. After he was satisfied with draining me, he dropped me on the floor with a loud thud. I barely had the strength to breathe and anticipated my death. But he didn't stop there; he grabbed my arm, yanked me off the ground, and dragged me into the bathroom. "Now, it won't be good for the both of us if you die without fulfilling your purpose," he said with a creepy smile. I panicked, hating him for what he did to me. He was ruthless just like the rumors I had about him. Without warning, he stabbed a needle into my arm. I whimpered from the pain, and then he opened a cabinet, brought out a bag of blood, and connected it to my body with an IV line. "Listen to me carefully, every mistake you make will cost you a severe punishment. Today's punishment is just out of my generosity. You don't want to know what will happen to you next time. So be mindful of every rule I make," he warned. I nodded my head in response and he left me alone. Once he was gone, I broke down in tears muffling my sound from getting out. If this was how I was going to suffer for the rest of my life. I would rather die and curse the moon goddess, denying myself the privilege of reincarnation. After all, she had forsaken me right from the day I was born. It is only natural to curse her and have my soul extinguished forever. I stayed immobile until the next day, starved and tortured by an alpha who despised my existence. Once it was two in the morning, he came back to the bathroom and pulled out the needle in my arm. "Remember my number one rule. Today is the mating ceremony. No matter what happens, you are not allowed to leave this room. Am I understood?" He said with a menacing voice. "Yes, I understand." "Good. There is a tray of food in the corner of the room. Eat it and leave no crumb. If you stay good today, I might reward you with lesser pain once I return. I will be back after midnight. Keep that in mind," he said but in a threatening way. I listened to him and waited until he was gone before I rushed out of the bathroom in search of the tray of food. When my eyes landed at the corner where the tray was, the anticipation in my eyes dulled down when I saw a half piece of bread. My heart swelled with hate as I stared at the ridiculous food. Impulsively, I grabbed the piece of bread and threw it out of the window. _Even the food at the breeding house was better than this. Being good can f**k to hell for all I care._
