His prey

NAIDIRA POV I blinked rapidly. I wasn't consumed by the taste of his soft lips, which carried the lingering scent of the wine, but by the suddenness of his action. Orion halted the movement of his lips against mine, probably realizing that I wasn't reciprocating. He drew back, leaving a small distance between us. A distance not enough for my head to think straight. "You want me to stop?" He asked. Did I? That was a question that I couldn't answer. I could blame the wine I ordered for this, but goodness knows a part of me screamed for it... screamed for his touch. Orion drew back further, and the loss of contact made my chest twist in hurt. "I'll give you time to think about what I said," he said. But just before he could turn, I crashed my lips onto his in a timid yet bold attempt to kiss him-completely ignoring everything I stood for. Orion's face flashed with what felt like disbelief. Then the intensity of his burning gaze increased a hundred fold. One that made my legs weaken. He wrapped his hand around my neck, deepening the kiss. Our tongues danced against each other as he led and I followed. I couldn't tell how long the kiss lasted, but the clinking of glasses and a low growl jolted us back to our surroundings. We turned to the bar attendant, whose expression screamed, Get a room. "You're red." Orion whispered in my ear, worsening the crimson blush that had adorned my cheeks. "Come with me," he added, standing and stretching out his hand for me to take. Warily, I placed my hand in his. His large palm completely swallowed mine as he anchored me. The moment I stood, the full effect of the wine hit me like a wave. My legs weakened as the ground wobbled beneath me. Orion noticed immediately and quickly steadied me, his hands placed firmly on my waist. "Are you okay?" "Yes," I said, pulling away from his touch. I composed myself and walked forward boldly. But that pride went down the drain the moment I walked straight into a table I could've sworn wasn't there before. Orion's low chuckle came from behind me, then he tried to cover it with a cough. I snapped my head toward him, glaring, before striding out of the building. Once we got outside. I fumbled with my keys, trying to unlock the car door, when Orion grabbed them from my hand. "This time, I'll drive, before you run us into a fence thinking it's the road." I gnashed my teeth, holding back the curse words threatening to spill out, and dragged myself to the passenger seat. Once seated, I turned to face him. "But how come you get to drive when we both drank the same thing?" I asked curiously. There was no way the wine hadn't affected him too. "Because I can...I'm not the one walking into tables," He smirked, obviously ignoring my question with his snarky remark. I stared at him, mentally cursing him multiple times before turning to the window with pout. Why was I acting this way! Orion started the engine. "Your address?" "12 Crescent avenue," I muttered, still staring out the window. I watched as cars, lights, and people passed by. The atmosphere wasn't stale despite the silence-it was rather warm, and comfortable. Comfortable enough that I almost drifted off a few times before we finally arrived at my apartment. Orion followed closely behind me as I unlocked my door . Just as I was about to thank him for dropping me off then shoo him off, he had already stepped into my living room . His eyes scammed every detail of my apartment as if commuting it to memory, then he nodded in what felt like approval. I stared at the back of the man walking through my home as though he belonged. My throat suddenly went dry, so I headed to my kitchen, grabbed a bottle of water, and gulped it down in one go, ignoring the excess that spilled onto my shirt. When I finished, Orion was in the kitchen, his gaze fixed on me. I hesitated before saying , "Thanks for bringing me home..." "Appreciated, but I brought you back for my selfish reasons." he said, stepping closer to the counter. "Huh?" "Initially, I was curious about where you lived all these years. I wanted to see if the versions of you in my dreams were consistent with reality." He said, taking the bottle from my hand. "Then I realized...maybe I just didn't want you to be able to hide away from me anymore." A low, annoyed growl escaped my lips. "So now you want to stalk me?" "Not my point." "What is then?" I snapped. "Naidira, you can't keep ignoring the heat you feel inside. I feel it, and I know you feel it too." His free hands pressed against my chest, just above my heart. "Feel how your heartbeat grows erratic under my touch...unsettled, as if yearning for something." Orion's treacherous hand trailed toward my head. "Feel how your mind goes blank, like you've lost the ability to think." "It's just the wine." I coughed, turning my head away. But there were things I couldn't blame on wine. And this was one. I knew its effect had long fade-I just refused to admit that it was all me. "Should I prove it?" He whispered, his lips brushing my ear. "Ahm... how?" I turned back to him, his fingers hovering at the space between his face and my lips. Subconsciously, I had the urge to taste them. "You look extremely cute when you're rattled. But..." He said, trying hard to suppress a sly smirk. I stared at him. Eager for something, burning at his proximity. I've gone mad! Completely mad! He continued, "With the way your lips parted unconsciously for my fingers." His gaze dropped to my lips, then returned to my eyes. "Sexy, I'd say." I quickly shut my mouth, unaware it had been open, and smacked his hand away. "You're insane!" Something cool caressed the half molds of my breast through the white sleeves that were now transparent. Only then did I realize I had smacked the hand holding the water, spilling its content over my chest. "Ishh!" I jerked. "Oops," he smirked, his eyes lingering on my now visible Angry Birds bra. I expected him to laugh or mock me, so I instinctively tried to cover myself. But instead, his gaze darkened with each passing second, like something dangerous was surfacing. In a few seconds he had become the demon. And I? His prey My body leaned against the counter, trying to create distance from his intense stare. When his eyes met mine again, his voice dropped to a husky whisper. "Flower..." His hands circled my waist, pulling me toward him until our bodies pressed together. "Your body is the most divine thing I've ever seen.... Can I worship it?"
