Nice to meet you

"Ugh, I'm telling you, girl, my dad is really starting to annoy me." "Tell me about it. I understand completely." On a certain highway leading to the train station, a black Mercedes with a sleek exterior moved. The driver, a young girl with dark hair wearing sunshades, was FaceTiming her friend. "Like why the hell would he send me to pick up some stranger from the train station?... I mean, doesn't he know how dangerous that place is?" "I know right?... Isn't that like where the poor people go when they want to travel?" "Exactly!" The young girl remarked. "Vera, I don't know how to say this but you really need to call your dad to order." The young girl… no, Vera replied. "What can I do?... Dad has been going off these days, especially since I got the last bodyguard to quit his job." "Hah, you think your stepmom has a hand in his sudden change?" "I think?... No, I know for a fact. That b***h has been doing everything to stop my dad from spoiling me." "Girl, you really need to find a way to kick her out. She is ruining everything." "You think I haven't tried?... Just, leave it be for now. Let me get this over and done with." "Alright, alright. No need to get angry with me." "I'm sorry. Let's talk later, okay?" "It's fine. Will you be coming to the party tonight?" "Heh, is there a reason not to?" "Nice. See you then." "Yeah sure." Beep With the facetime coming to an end, Vera finally focused on the road before her. Of course, her eyes were in front but her mind was elsewhere. With a complicated expression on her face, she soon let out a tired sigh. "Let's just finish this." After an extra hour of driving, she soon arrived at her destination, Intercity Rails. Noticing the presence of a black and white police car, Vera turned apprehensive. "Did something happen?" She muttered under her breath as she slowly drove in. Parking at an allotted spot, she got out of her car with her phone and her handbag. After she pressed a button on her car key, locking the door, she turned and walked into the building with faint worry lingering at the back of her mind. Arriving at the entrance, she was briefly searched by security before being let into the station. Just then, two officers walked toward her while dragging along a masked figure in handcuffs. She exchanged looks with the masked man for a brief moment before he was forced to turn away. Gulping instinctively, Vera tried to shake off the tension she felt. Taking a few deep breaths, she soon regained her composure. Scrunching up her nose, Vera surveyed the area briefly, watching as people entered and exited the station. "Ugh, how do I find one guy in such a place?" Letting out a muffled groan, Vera reached into her handbag and retrieved a picture. On it, the image of a white haired kid remained alongside a scrawny-looking old man wearing a monk's robe. Using the picture as a reference, Vera made her way around, searching for her target. She soon arrived at the rail tracks where a rowdy crowd caught her attention. Several people were gathered in a circle with a few talking. From what she could glean, the words uttered were mostly praise for a certain figure. Perhaps drawn by her curiosity, Vera slowly walked over at which point the crowd began to disperse to reveal three people. Two out of the three were familiar but though the third was unfamiliar, he seemed to resemble the image of the child she was with. "Oh, Vera, it's you?" Ethan remarked smilingly upon noticing her presence. Jolted out of her momentary lapse, Vera replied. "Yeah..yeah." "Hi, Vera. What are you doing here?" Lucy greeted as well. Having recovered from nearly losing Ethan, she seemed more bubbly and likable. "What am I doing here?... I should be asking you guys that. What are the children of two of the richest families in Intercity doing in a train station?" "Ah, well, it's a long story." Lucy awkwardly replied with Ethan merely shaking his head with a smile on his lips. "Just leave it be," Ethan said before quickly realizing something. Facepalming, he remarked. "Where are my manners. I haven't even introduced him." "Hmm?" Vera raised a brow. "This is my newly made friend and most importantly, my savior, Marcus Caine." Ethan intoned. Albeit slightly melancholic at first for whatever reason, Marcus took advantage of the exaggerated introduction to rise to his feet and extend his hand out. "Nice to meet you." Vera's gaze alternated between his handsome but delicate face and his slender but rugged hand before inquiring. "You are Marcus Caine?" "The one and only." Marcus smugly replied. Pursing her lips, Vera glanced at the picture she was holding before shifting her attention back to Marcus. "Do you know of a Mr. Martinez?" "Indeed. Mr. Diego Martinez. My grandfather said I was to meet with him. He didn't exactly tell me more, but I guessed that if I asked around enough, someone would know, and what do you know?... Ethan knows him." Chuckling mischievously, Lucy and Ethan exchanged looks with one another. Seeing as how his hand was not being taken, Marcus inquired while scratching his head. "Did I say something weird again?" He quickly turned to Ethan for answers, leaving Vera momentarily confused and speechless. "Did I do something?" Marcus asked. Ethan chuckled as he shook his head. "Not at all." "Then?" "You said you were looking for Mr. Martinez, right?" "Yeah?" "That's his daughter, Vera Martinez. It would seem you won't have to waste time." "Is that so?" Marcus muttered as he turned to face Vera yet again, with the latter slightly embarrassed, for reasons unknown. Coughing awkwardly, she stretched out her palm. "...Nice to meet you, I'm Vera."
