Saving the damsel

Marcus didn't know where he was going as he trailed after Vera's car on the highway but it was exciting for him. As the winds caressed his skin, his heart throbbed like a war drum, causing him to go even faster. However, as he continued following, he soon discovered a discrepancy in the direction Vera was headed. Then the presence of some unwelcome guests caused him to crease his brows. Making a quick decision, he parked his Ferrari in a spot and continued the journey on foot. Normally, he'd have ignored them, but the amount of bloodlust they were exuding was indeed quite strange. Pursing his lips, Marcus decided to see what they were up to. Of course, it didn't take long for his wish to be fulfilled. *** As Vera drove into a lonely path with trees all around, she couldn't help feeling tense. "Am I going the wrong way?" She couldn't help but ask as she tried to pick up her phone to ensure she was going the right way. However, just as she tried to reach for her phone, it fell to the ground. "Ugh, come on." She quickly slowed down before bending down to pick it up when suddenly, there was a whizzing sound. Shatter "Ahh!" She screamed out loud as the window on the driver's seat exploded with shards of glass flying around. Luckily she'd bent over so the shards didn't hit anywhere vulnerable. Hyperventilating, she quickly put her head up just in time to see five men wearing all black, looking somewhat like ninjas, emerge from the trees ahead. Blinking in confusion, she was about to start the car when a hand suddenly appeared from the shattered window and grabbed her neck. "Ugh." Groaning softly, she tried to break free but the hand might as well be made of rock as it didn't budge despite her actions. Glancing to the side, she found yet another ninja, glaring hatefully at her. The ninja tried to pull her out but a tap on his shoulder caused him to stop. He turned to find a white haired man standing next to him with his slender palm placed on his shoulder. The man turned wide-eyed as he hadn't even noticed the newcomer's approach. "Uhmm, could you let her go?... It's only right for beautiful women to be treated like porcelain to ensure they aren't broken. They are quite delicate." "... You." The man quickly removed his hand from Vera's neck and tried to attack the boy but before he could do so, a sharp pain shot through his body. He groaned softly as the white haired man planted a knee in his torso. "Ugh." This time, the man groaned softly before falling to the ground with a dull thud. "... I didn't use that much force though," Marcus muttered offhandedly before glancing at Vera. "Are you okay?" Surprised by Marcus's presence, Vera remained speechless, merely giving a nod in response to his question. "That's good." Marcus nodded before glancing toward the five cloaked men ahead who had already taken offensive positions. "Hmm." Pursing his lips, Marcus stepped forward until he was standing in front of the car before he inquired. "Sorry to ask but are you guys related to the guy I took down at the train station?" "...!" A resounding silence reigned for a moment before one of the men spoke up. "So you are the one who caused our brother to get caught." "Brother?" "Die!" The cloaked men hurled several knives at Marcus, hopeful that he'd let his guard down or dodge, which would allow the knives to kill their initial target, but contrary to their expectations, Marcus took a deep breath before quickly putting out his palm. Almost immediately, a powerful gust of wind emerged from his palm and struck away all the knives, leaving the cloaked men speechless. "A bona fide martial artist." One of the men muttered in a fearful tone. Marcus retracted his palm as he inquired. "Can we just talk?... We might be able to solve this without fighting." "..." The cloaked men exchanged looks with one another before quickly coming to a consensus. Throwing a smoke bomb on the ground, a loud puff echoed after which purple gas erupted immediately, quickly obscuring their location. Of course, that was for Vera. In Marcus's eyes, their positions were still as clear as day. "They ran away," Marcus muttered before shifting his attention to the spreading purple gas. His expression crumpled for a moment before he quickly recovered, after which he took a rather peculiar stance, reminding Vera of someone about to dance. The next moment, Marcus began to rotate, and with his rotation, a vortex of breeze occurred, dragging all the purple gas in his direction. Once everything was collected, he stopped spinning and without hesitation, swallowed the entirety of the gas. A moment later, a short burp escaped his lips. Meanwhile, Vera was still silent as she watched the entire situation transpire from the safety of her car. Of course, although she watched it, she was still unable to understand anything about what had just happened. Just then, the door opposite the driver's door was opened and Marcus entered before closing the door again. "Are you feeling okay?... Sorry, I couldn't act earlier. I thought it was all a misunderstanding but I guess they might be after you for some weird reason." Vera blinked a few times before glancing at Marcus. Her lips parted as she asked. "What just happened?" "Ah… well." "How did you do that?... What's going on?... Who are those guys?" "Uhmm…" "Also, how are you here?" Vera had so many questions but with no answers, her mental state was clearly on the edge. Pursing his lips, Marcus didn't respond, instead looking deep into her eyes. "Forget," said Marcus in an ethereal voice. A moment later, Vera's eyes seemed to lose their light for a moment after which she recovered like nothing happened. Blinking a few times in confusion, she soon zeroed in on Marcus.
