“Are you ready?” Aya asked Steven who was still half-asleep.
“Yeah, sure. You two owe me big time.” He answered Aya. He reached inside his pocket and handed Aya his black card with his name. “Oh, and please buy that guy a phone. It’s hard to reach him through the telephone all the time.” Steven asked Aya to convince the stubborn Gavin.
Aya thanked Steven for always being there for them. Steven has always been good to her and the rest, but he is somewhat the nicest person to Gavin after her. He treats him like his real brother. Steven always gives Gavin the best opportunities. While on the contrary, he just lives his life so mundane like he does not have a plan with his life.
When they reached Gavin’s shop, Aya appreciated his appearance from afar. She thought of that, saying that men look sexier when they are serious with their work. He was just wearing a dark denim jeans and a moss green crew neck shirt, yet he looked so hot with that messy hair of his.
Aya ran up to him and gave him a hug. It took Gavin by surprise, but he loves these kinds of surprises. He held Aya in his arms and kissed her on the lips. “Good morning, baby.” He said to her. Gavin did not expect Aya to come to his shop this morning. “Are you closing your store today?” He wanted to make sure Aya was not throwing out her priorities because of him.
“Yeah, I hired a staff. Now I can leave the store whenever I want. Not like I did not do that before.” She chuckled and kissed Gavin back.
He noticed that Aya dressed up today, not her typical denim skirt and tank top. She is wearing an off shoulder floral blue dress. The knee-length flowy dress falls on voluptuous curve perfectly. Her shoulder length black hair falls just above her flawless shoulders. “You are looking great baby. Where are we heading” He asked Aya. He won’t let her go alone anywhere without him.
“Let’s go out for a date.” She smiled sweetly at Gavin.
Steven walked forward and raised his hand to Gavin. “I got the shop for today, bro. Go out and have fun with your lady.”
Gavin and Aya thanked Steven as they left the shop. Aya anchored her hand at Gavin’s arms. Just like before, when they walked around town walking sweetly, hand in hand. The difference now is just that whatever they have, whatever they share is true.
Aya led Gavin to a gadget shop. “You are the only person I know that does not have a phone. You need to get one.” Aya told Gavin. The shop they entered was the high-end cell phone shop owned by Steven’s family.
“Gavin is not into gadgets, and he thinks having a cell phone is a waste of time and money. What for? I can be with you all the time, anyway.” He said to Aya, stating his case for the useless purchase.
“A phone is so much more than for calling.” She was trying to convince Gavin.
Gavin crossed his arms on his chest while cupping his chin, like a boss scrutinizing an apprentices’ work. “Well, convince me more, please.” He said.
“For one, Steven said he needs to keep in contact with you for business matters.” Aya explained to Gavin, hinting that it was Steven who wanted to give him a phone.
Gavin just nodded like it wasn’t a good enough reason. “Well, you can also take pictures with this, play videos, play games and music and oh you can also track me here, if I connect my phone with you.” Aya added.
“Track you? You mean, I will know exactly where you are all the time?” Gavin clarified it with Aya.
“Yes, baby.” Aya answered Gavin.
Gavin looked at the store clerk and called him in. “Please pack this one, I’m buying it.” That was all that Aya had to say, and he did it in a heartbeat. The store clerk was more than happy to sell them the top of the line phone they have in store.
Gavin pulled out his wallet to pay. He did not even check the price of the phone. Aya stopped him and showed the black card Steven handed to her earlier. “Steven is paying for it. He was the one who wanted to give you a phone.” She explained to him.
It surprised the store clerk when she saw Steven’s name and his card with Aya. They even gave free ear buds with it. They know him to be notorious with women, but this is the first time a woman used it to buy a phone for another man.
“Baby, let’s eat.” Aya said to Gavin while they were walking downtown. He agreed readily because he has had nothing since the morning. Aya chose a dainty café down the next block. The boot they chose was near the window. It surprised Aya that Gavin sat beside her instead of in front of her.
Gavin caught that surprise look on Aya’s face. Aya felt the need to explain to Gavin. “You know what? For couples dating, it is usual to seat face to face rather than side by side like this.”
“Yeah? I did not know that. Obviously this is my first ever date.” He chuckled and placed his arms over Aya’s body and rested his palm on her hips. “But you see, if I sit there I will not be able to do this.” He winked at Aya and kissed her exposed shoulders “And this,” he added.
“You are so smooth aren’t you?” Aya mocked him. They ordered their food and started unboxing Gavin’s phone while they waited for their order. “This unit you have has a great camera quality.” Aya was explaining the phone to Gavin and teaching him how to use it with the best settings.
“Thanks, babe. Let’s give it a try.” Gavin took a photo of Aya. He smiled as he looked at her photo like he won the lottery. “You know why I want to take a photo of you?” He asked Aya.
“Hmm, why?” Aya asked Gavin, deep inside she was praying it would not be for his naughty stuff.
“This is my evidence that angels do exist.” He dropped the cheesiest line for this day. Both of them laughed until the wait stuff interrupted them.
“Excuse me. We are having a bit of trouble with our other guests. They are complaining and said that you are too loud.” The staff talked to them with a tone of empathy. “I’m sorry, if it was just me. I don’t mind. I love having this vibe in here. But that brat over there is the daughter of the owner.” She added.
Aya looked in the direction pointed by the staff. It did not surprise her to see Jen, but her sitting with Gerard was definitely something she did not expect. Aya smiled at the staff. “Oh, it’s okay it’s not your fault to have such bosses. Can we please just have our food wrapped for take away?” She compromised with the staff. The staff agreed and felt relieved that they did not take it against her.
“Excuse me, baby. I’ll just go to the washroom.” Aya said to Gavin. He continued exploring his new phone and synced it with Aya’s, which was his only purpose of having it.
After she went to the toilet, Aya walked towards the sink to fix her makeup; waiting for Jen to show up. And just like the classic villain in every movie, Jen pushes the door in the washroom and talks to her via the mirror.
"One can't really buy class." Jen muttered.
"True. Look at you so rich, but still cheap at the same time." Aya fired back. She fixed her dress before she left.
On her way out of the toilet, the staff called her; "Miss, your food is ready." She extended her arm with the paper bag. Aya smiled and thanked the crew. She called for Gavin who was seated a few seats away from her. "Gavin! Baby. Let's go, I got our food. I can't wait to eat you. I mean eat with you." She chuckled at Gavin who blushed at her joke.
Gerard, on the other hand, heard the whole thing. He angrily slammed his fist on the table. Jen heard him and tried to settle him down. "You have to chill. Let them have their last laugh." Jen's tone was serious and her words were mental. "I've hired the brains for our revenge. I need your people to take them down."
