Aya quickly turned the tables. It is her turn to surprise Gavin and Veronica. She grinned at the thought of seeing the surprised looks on their faces. She knows it sounds a little petty for her to do this, considering how much she’s changed. However, at this moment in her life, it is the gripping point of all the changes she’s been through. She simply cannot let go of Gavin without hurting him the way he did to her.

“That would be great. They will hold the party this coming Saturday. I will pick you up at seven.” Howie said with the obvious gladness in his voice.

Aya suddenly felt guilty. Will she be using Howie again as her pawn for her grand plans? She cleared her throat and swallowed hard. Her decision making is quick. She can’t use him again, especially hearing what happened to him when they broke off their engagement.

She clearly knows that Howie’s feelings for her were true, unlike her. “You know what? Why don’t we have a date today?” Aya asked Howie.

“Oh my God! Did I just hear you right?” Howie could not contain his excitement. “I was just about to ask you out.”

“Great, then let’s meet later, after work at the café across my office.” Aya ended her call, hoping that her talk with Howie today would work out fine to accomplish her primary goal. Aya went back to her desk to work on the marketing lapses of their company.

She saw a couple of million dollars missing in the marketing department. Aya knows she is drawing the ire of the department heads, but they can’t really do anything about it. For the insiders, it is clear that she is the next to lead their company. Apparently, her brother Don is not an option to lead their company. It is said that he is mysteriously heading for another secret company for their family.

Don’s sexuality and affairs are kept from the public. They rarely saw him in their events, thus they dubbed him the mysterious don. In Hudson, no one knows him as his real name; Brandon White. His actual relationship with Aya is also unknown. It helped out a lot that the other queens were close with Aya as well. It hid her relationship with her brother; it did not draw much attention.  

Since Aya was back in Victoria her friends from back, then we’re trying to contact her. Even the men who thought she was easy making suggestive comments on her were back. It disgusts Aya that she lives in such a society. But this society is also her weapon to get on with her plans. They need to see how she has changed from the girl that left Victoria to the woman that has returned.

Aya stretched her back and neck as she finished her work. She neatly packed her bag and went out of the office just like every other employee. She used the same elevator and even ate at the cafeteria. It’s not like she’s trying to prove something, but she despises those that think they are extra special just because their wallets are fuller.

This attitude of Aya brought her to the good side of the employees. Most of them are oblivious to the scandal she’s been through before. She looked a lot different from that girl in the video. Her short black hair is now long and burgundy in color. It looked stunning in her alabaster skin.

The way she dressed is mainly corporate dresses and blazers. The way she carries herself is exceptional. Elegance exudes in her amidst her very simple personality. That contrasting feature in her makes her even more attractive. What makes people around her swoon is her sweet smile, the smile that made Gavin fall head over heels. It actually baffles Aya how she manages to smile to everyone when deep inside, she still can’t find a glimmer of happiness. She still cries her heart out when she’s alone.

Aya walked across the street and saw Howie waiting for her in front of the café she told him about. A few steps away, Aya could see the wide smile on Howie’s face. It is as if she never hurt him before. She can’t help but think if she could smile like this when she gets to see Gavin again.

They went inside the café, Howie was proper, as always. He opened the door for her and pulled out the chair for her. Aya remembers the day she felt off about their relationship. It was that one time when he went to her dorm drunk. Howie was frustrated because Aya wouldn’t allow their relationship to further its intimacy.

Aya was not the type of girl who would go all the way if she was not in love with the person. She was casual with Howie because she never thought their parents would force them to get married earlier. However, the time the video of her broke out; she had to play the part and acted like a player. She was dating guys one after the other like she was simply changing clothes. The terrible impression she got was perfect for her plan. Even though it was not her who made the video, it played well in her favor.

Until this very day Aya knows that it is only her and the one who made the video who knows about the authenticity of it. And she is not planning on clearing her name because of that. Moreover, she does not have any idea about the guy who did it, she just let him off the hook and hid in Hudson. Aya is now strong enough to move past that part of her life and dismiss it if it comes up in her future encounters.

When the two of them settled, Howie ordered the specialty of the cafe,  as always he was trying to impress Aya. But she let him do what he wants, after all; her plan is to get on the good side of Howie.

“It’s been a while. How are you?” Howie asked Aya.

“Better, I guess. How about you?” Aya asked back with a smile. She wants to turn Howie into a loyal ally someone who will willingly allow himself to be used for her agenda.

“Better too, I mean we’ve met again.” Howie flirtatiously answered.

Aya smiled at his response, and Howie just looked like he melted with it. Aya knew right then and there that she got him. Aya tucked strands of her locks behind her ear. “Howie, I have something to confess to you.” She said in a low voice.

Howie loosened his necktie before he answered. “What is it? After everything we’ve been through, I don’t think there is anything I could not handle.” He responded with a smirk and he sipped from the coffee he pre ordered.

Aya understands what he meant. Many of her friends told her that she created a monster in Howie after that scandal. But she figured she might as well take her chance. “I want to come clean. Before we start being friends again, I want to tell you the truth. Gavin is actually my ex.” she blurted out openly.

Howie spilled the coffee in his mouth in shock. He did not expect that new and unknown guy just hooked the two closest women in his heart.
