You Have Me

Veronica’s kiss stunned Gavin, and what she said, it was the most beautiful news he’s ever heard. If there is one thing that he regrets, it is not asking her to do it earlier. However, in this case, it is definitely better late than never.

It is also the first time that Veronica introduced him to other people as her fiancé. Gavin does not hate it, but it wasn’t too hard to swallow. He cares for Veronica. It isn’t something he wants to hide from anyone. Even with Sofia.

“So, Mr.?” Felix asked Gavin, calling him back to Earth.

“Gavin Knight. My name is Gavin Knight” He stuttered with his answered as he looked at Felix who was showing him two jackets. He was apparently asking him to choose which style he prefers and was not asking him his name.

Felix laughed at Gavin’s reaction. “Oh, boy. How long have you been together, and you get lost with just a kiss on the cheeks?” He asked Gavin.

It alerted Gavin. The thing Felix noticed might go around Veronica’s circle and cause her trouble. He cleared his throat and acted cool. “Haha, no it is what she whispered to me that excited me more. It is about my reward for later.” He smirked at Felix. Gavin did his best to appear natural.

“ooh, I did not know Veronica has that naughty side in her. Well anyway, if you are my boyfriend, too. I might unleash a vixen.” Felix laughed with Gavin.

The two proceeded with improving Gavin’s wardrobe and styling. Felix also pointed out to Gavin the little things that the elite might nitpick in him. That one thing Veronica asked Felix to do for her. Felix was fun to work with. His patience with him is actually commendable.

“You are good to go, Gavin.” Felix commented as they finished their last task for the day.

Gavin stood up and helped Felix with his things. “Thanks for your help Felix.” His sense of gratitude amazed Felix. They paid him to do his job, but not all billionaires would help him like Gavin was doing. 

“This is the beauty of the Nouveau Riche, huh,” Felix commented, but he hurriedly corrected himself. “I did not mean it in a bad way. It is actually good in a sense for you because you only want to polish some acts the Vieux Riche would pick on you, but your sense of whoever you are prior to all this wealth. Well, I still see it there.” Felix commended Gavin.

Gavin did not even see as anything bad about Felix’s initial observation. But Gavin definitely felt happy that in his simple ways Felix actually felt respected and treated with fairness. “I make sure to keep my feet on the ground.” Gavin replied to Felix’s friendly remark on him.

 Felix tapped Gavin’s shoulder. “Please take care of Veronica. She really is fragile. She acts tough and all but deep inside she is just a little girl scared of everything.” Felix reminded Gavin.

It made Gavin smile, “You know her better than I thought other people know her.” It is the first time that he met someone actually looking out for Veronica this way.

“Yeah, I mean I’ve been her stylist since she was seventeen. She might not talk about her life that much, but it would help you understand why she is the way she is now.” Felix advised Gavin.

He nodded, accepting Felix’s suggestion. Gavin thought about it and he prepared a surprise for Veronica’s return. The house helpers assisted him for the surprise.

Gavin stayed in the living room waiting for Veronica. He grew uncomfortable as he waited for hours and Veronica still hadn’t come home. “Should I call her by now?” He was mumbling as he paced inside the living room.

“Agh! F*ck it!” Gavin groaned as he dialed Veronica’s phone. He needs to know if she is safe. Her phone rang a couple of times, but she was not answering. Gavin went to the garage to get his bike. He repeatedly dialed Veronica until she finally picked up.

“Hello.” Her voice is cracking. It was apparent that she was crying.

“Where are you?” Gavin asked her in his low voice. The concern in his tone is very obvious.

“Just, somewhere. I want to be alone, right now, Gavin.” Veronica said, but she can clearly hear the sound of Gavin’s bike.

Gavin is as stubborn as Veronica is. “I’m not taking that as an answer. Let me be with you. You don’t have to be alone, Veronica. You have me.” He said with conviction.

Gavin’s concern is something new for Veronica; she is not used to having someone like Gavin. She is the Lone Wolfe for a reason. But Gavin’s sincerity was enough for Veronica, “Maybe it is time for me to give myself a chance.” She reasoned with her mulish self. Veronica said her location to Gavin.

“What the hell is she doing in this place?” Gavin saw the location Veronica sent her. Regardless, Gavin rode his bike and sped off to Veronica’s location.

Gavin stood outside the address Veronica sent. He looked up double checking he was at the right location. “Poseidon Gay Bar” He exhaled heavily before he set foot inside the building. Veronica is in one of the private rooms. "Why does it have to be here, silly girl?" He chuckled to himself, realizing the stares he was getting from potential customers. 

As he opened the room, he saw Veronica sitting there with a half full wine bottle in her hand. It looks like she has gobbled half of it already. She looked devastated. Her eyes are puffy from crying. Veronica let out a faint smile when she saw Gavin at the door. 

"He came, He really came.." it overwhelmed her heart seeing Gavin coming for her. Gavin walked slowly towards Veronica and sat beside her. He held Veronica’s head and offered his shoulder for her to rest on. “Tough day?” Gavin asked Veronica.

She nodded without answering. The feeling of comfort spread through her. She finally felt like she can cry her heart out with Gavin.

Gavin moved to wrap his arms around Veronica as she sobbed on his chest. He was willing to wait until she felt okay to tell him what happened to her.

“I can’t get the second opinion here. People know me. It would be too risky. And just remembering the test I had to do the first time, it scares me to death.” She finally let it out. Gavin felt bad that Veronica have to go through the burden because of his request.

“You are not alone, let’s go together. I am here for you.” Gavin declared his intention to help Veronica even if it was out of the country.
