Betrayal

1346 Words
Sofia bundled herself up in the corner. Crying her heart out, she cannot believe that the man she loved with all her heart betrayed her like this. The past days, she was hoping that Gavin would get past that confusion he talked about. What broke her more was not receiving a reply from him and not even a single attempt to contact her after her message.  “Did he accept my messages as it is because he is no longer confused? Did he just confirm that he was completely letting go of me by marrying the new girl he met? And out of all the people in the world, why does it have to be Veronica Wolfe?” Aya blurted out in frustration. The pain, the frustration and everything she is feeling now cannot be compared to everything she’s already been through. Even the s*x scandal was not as painful as today. Perhaps it is because there is nothing more painful than betrayal…. After all, betrayal is a type of pain that only a friend can do. *** Sofia was woken up by the loud banging on her door. She stood up and slowly walked towards the door to see who was knocking. As soon as she opened it, the Queens barged inside and hugged her. They saw the news and were bothered by Aya’s silence. “Are you okay?” It alarmed them all that she did not call them for a drink. Usually her means to get over the frustration she is feeling is to drink with them. But now, she slept, and seeing her puffy eyes, it can only mean she cried herself to sleep. But it was barely ten in the evening, so they readily assumed that she had had nothing today. Harry quickly went to the kitchen to cook something for Aya. The rest of the guys helped out and cleaned up her home. It was a mess basically, because it looked like she was packing. Dobbie went inside Aya's room and saw the confirmation of their hunch. “You packed your clothes. Where are you heading to?” Dobbie asked her while she pointed at her luggage. “I was planning to go back to Victoria.” She said stuttering. Not sure if she was making a sound decision.  “Are you still planning to go there now after the news?” Dobbie asked her again. They all know that it is Gavin’s and his wife’s home and their dominance throughout the city will be undeniable. Aya will surely bump into the power couple if she moves back in there. Aya slowly nodded her head. “Are you a masochist?” George angrily asked Aya. He is always grumpy, but he is surely one of the most protective of her. He does not want to see her suffer there. "Do you want me to teach them a lesson for you? Just say it, Aya." He said as he clenched his jaw. “I need to do it. No, George, you don't need to go through all the troubles for me.” Aya muttered. Don patted her head. “Sis, maybe you are correct. Maybe it is time for you to go back. Pick up where you left off. Your life is not all about Gavin.” Aya wiped her tears and replied. “That is my exact plan.” In fact, she already called her dad to inform him that she will be back there to finish her masters and take over the company as they wish. Her dad instantly agreed and was already looking forward to have her back. The queens gathered round her and embraced her. “We will help you.” Dobbie said. His answer surprised Aya. Thinking what help the Queens are talking about. The look on her face was totally understandable. Dobbie chuckled and continued. “You need a makeover, a confidence booster and a fierce aura.” If she was to meet Gavin and Veronica in Victoria, it is true she better arm herself with the vibe the Queens want her to have. She can’t appear like a total loser in front of those two traitors. Aya wants to be seen by Gavin and regrets that she is not the one in his arms. Aya took a deep sigh, “Am I too petty to want a revenge?” She asked the surrounding Queens. They all looked at her with sympathy. Perhaps they still can’t believe that Gavin betrayed them all. “If it would help you move on easier, then by all means do the best revenge, which is being the best version of yourself.” Don confirmed his support for his sister. The next day, Aya and the Queens left for Victoria. They committed to staying with her while she was transitioning to the Sofia 2.0 they all wished for her to become. While they moved to Victoria, they stayed at Aya’s home. The mansion her father gifted to her on her twentieth birthday, but this is the first time she stayed in here. Little did they know it was just right across Veronica’s home, a bad joke played on her once again by fate. Aya had an exam that would evaluate her readiness to take advance classes and she passed everything. It would not take much time before she gets her diploma. It was important for her father since it was his only condition before giving the company to her. It was the busiest two weeks of her life. She avoided the news and her social media accounts to avoid news about Gavin and Veronica. Her short hair grew longer, and she kept it that way, thinking she does not want a trace of the old Aya in her. She is a new woman, an improved version of herself. Her sense of style also matured. She is no longer a happy-go-lucky girl in a small town. Now she is a heiress running a company on her own capabilities.  When the Queens were satisfied seeing Aya feel and look better, they went back to Hudson. But they made sure to contact her time and again to check on her. Aya also wanted the independence of living on her own. She hired house helpers that only arrived to clean the mansion once a week, although she already did most of the work. “ring, ring” Her phone rang, and it was from an unknown number. She was reluctant to answer it, but after ten missed calls she finally gave it a chance. “Yes, hello?” She answered. “Finally, Sofia! I’ve been calling you repeatedly. This is Howie. How have you been?” Howie excitedly spoke as soon as Aya answered the call. She did not expect Howie to reach out to her again after the troubles she caused her before. But knowing her parents, they could have involved him again in her life. “Hmm, yes. Why did you call?” Aya asked him straight to the point. “I missed you. I want to catch up with you again.” He said straightforwardly. Aya felt the awkwardness between them. Their relationship did not end pleasantly and Howie's statement right now felt weird.  “Yeah? Hmm. I’m pretty caught up with work and studies. I’m not so sure if I can make some time for some catching up.” She responded in an indifferent tone. Trying her best to avoid Howie.   “Oh, that is too bad. I just wanted to invite you to be my date on the post wedding party of my sister and her husband.” Howie’s voice resounded with regret. “You mean Veronica and Gavin, right?” She wanted confirmation. “Yeah, do you know them?” Howie asked her back. Aya squinted her eyes as she brewed the perfect revenge she was thinking. She answered Howie. “I saw them on the news. On a second thought, it would be an honor to be your date and go with you to that party.”
