Back To Zero

Aya wiped her tears and bit her lip, trying her best to prevent her tears from falling. “Thank you, sir. I got to go.” She bowed to Bill as she exited the restaurant. She almost bumped to Ali. “Oops, I’m sorry ma’am.” Aya bowed to apologize to Ali as she went to direction of her car. “Is that?” Ali asked her husband. He nodded and sneered. “She is, yes the devil in the flesh.” Bill replied with a tone of disgust. Ali hissed not wanting to get in a fight with her husband again. “Was she looking for Gavin?” she asked Bill. Their brief encounter made her realize that she was crying, but she was also polite. For an heiress like her and all the rumors about her, it makes little sense. Well, adding the fact that Gavin loves her it means more about Sofia’s personality. Gavin will never fall in love with a diva. Ali was sure of it. “Yes. And I told her the truth. She ran out crying because I told her that Gavin is out of the country with his new girlfriend.” Bill added, knowing her soft-hearted wife will take pity on their enemy. Ali ran out to talk to Aya. She looked in the direction Aya went to, but she was no longer there. Ali is getting frustrated by the way her husband is acting these past few weeks since he found out about Gavin’s relationship with Aya. It is like his hatred towards Aya is reignited. *** Aya tapped her driver’s shoulders. “Let’s go back to Hudson please.” It baffled the driver; they drove for more than three hours and spent a few minutes only to go back crying. He knows he is obliged to report this to the big boss; Don. Aya took out her phone to call Dobbie. “Hey guys, let’s drink tonight. I will go to your place.” She said without further explanation. They know her. She will only call for a drunken night if she has a problem. She tried to call Gavin’s phone once again and still, he was not answering. This is her last straw, she made up her mind. “This is the last time that I am going to contact you. I just want you to have a happy life with Veronica. Thanks for everything. I don’t hate you. I know the situation was difficult for both of us. I just regret the time I spent waiting for you. You could have told me about it sooner. I will let you go. Anyway, thanks for everything. I loved you but I will move on, just like before.” Aya poured out her heart in that text. The way she broke up with Gavin is so unlike her. She was the type to just ghost her way out of the relationship. But for Gavin, she took the extra mile. This is not the perfect closure, but she said her piece and wanted to get his. It was just unfortunate that he was not answering. Although it would be better if she did not have to do this, it was definitely an improvement than before. Her relationship with Gavin has really brought her maturity in handling things and her life in general. Aya did not see it at first, but looking back on how she handled the last struggles she’s been through, it is apparent that she has matured enough to handle herself now. A few hours later, they reached Hudson, and the Queens were already waiting for her. She stepped out of the car and they raised their bottles already chilled to start their drinking session. “Let’s go ladies! The Princess has arrived!” Dobbie exclaimed as Aya walked towards them. It surprised Aya to see them ready with matching food for their drinking spree. “Wow, you guys always go the extra mile. Thanks for making time.” She gave them a faint smile. The Queens do not need confirmation, but they are sure that Aya is burdened. They encircled her gave her a group hug. “We love you Aya. We are here for you. Whatever it is, we got your back.” They reassured Aya. “Let’s drink to that!” Aya said and Steven played a funky music to dance with. It’s been a while since they did this to cheer up one of their family member. Sofia appreciated their effort to make her smile. This is the only loyal family she is sure of compared to every man that came to her life. A few bottles in, they all sat tired and played some mellow songs as they eat the chicken wings Harry ordered. They gathered around Aya, waiting for her to confirm what she’s been going through. The Queens wants to help her the best way they could. If only they know how to further help her.  "Gavin and I, are completely done." Aya said hastily, no filter, no flowery words; straight to the point.   Steven could not believe it. He knows how much Gavin loves Aya. "Hmm, what did Gavin say?" He asked Aya with a concerned tone. Aya realized Steven's loyalty between her and Gavin was at a blurred line. "Unfortunately, we did not get the chance to talk. But I am sure you saw the news with Veronica, right? The mystery man sure looks a lot like our dear Gavin." She faked a smile.  The plastered grin on her face cannot hide the hurt that is obvious in her eyes. Steven understood Aya's position. But the truth is, he believes that there is more to it that what meets the eye. Gavin is not a shallow person and definitely not someone who would dump Aya without proper closure.  Don came and joined the group. They all know he hates Gavin for being with Aya, although he does not say it straightforwardly. Everyone knows that this incident only gave him the confirmation that he is right to prevent their relationship from getting deeper. He sat beside Aya to try to comfort her. This is the first time they have a heart to heart talk after the incident with Gerard.  Aya excused herself to the toilet, but they know what she would do. She will just bawl her eyes out and come back like it was nothing. Like she can handle herself perfectly.  "Bzzt. bzzt." Aya's phone alerted with a text notification.  Don took the phone and checked the message. It was from an unknown number. Don read it. "Baby, I forgot my phone at home. Please, whatever you see on the news, I can explain everything to you. Let's meet after this."  It was Gavin, trying to explain himself. If Aya would reads this, he was sure that she would forgive Gavin in a heartbeat. Don answered the text. "I hate you. I don't believe a single word you are saying. It's over between us."  He then deleted the text and blocked the number Gavin used to contact Aya.
