— MARA | The sirens grew louder. I watched Cassian's face. Saw the calculation. The coldness sliding back into place. "You killed your brother," I said again. Because I needed to hear it. Needed to make it real. "Yes." "Last night." "Yes." "And now the police are coming." "Apparently." "Because of you." "Probably." He said it so calmly. Like it was nothing. Like murder was just another Tuesday. "You're a monster," I whispered. "I've never claimed otherwise." "You killed your own family." "He stopped being family the moment he threatened you." "That's not how family works!" "In my world it is." "Your world is insane!" "My world is the only one that kept you alive." I wanted to scream. To throw something.
