It's been a week since I've been grounded. Zach has been trying to soften me up to talk to him but I was still mad at him. Angela on the other hand was still being that annoying sis that I knew. It was Saturday morning when mom came and unground me. I actually didn't care because I spent most of my time in the house. I had no friends so I didn't see the need to go out. Angela too had started having friends so my life was really miserable. All I did the whole day was cook,clean and sleep. I admit that I'm a living being but I totally felt like a non-living thing the way my life was boring. So on this particular day, mom was actually pretty happy because in a few days it would be her and dad's 17th anniversary. Zach and I knew what dad was doing on the side because he leaves clues lying around. As usual Angela and Zach went out with their friends, dad was at work and I was stuck with mom. I admit, I love my mom but sometimes she can be too much. Well we "chilled' together, if that's an appropriate word to use when your with your mom but it sounds weird but it doesn't matter, so we "chilled" and the woman started asking do I have a girlfriend. That question was like asking "do chickens eat eggs". I was pretty shocked by mom's question. "What are you talking about mom?". It felt I could run away because I didn't even want to hear what will she will say next but I was kinda interested. "All the signs are there", she said. I heard enough and things were getting awkward for me so I just stood up and told her I'm going out for some fresh air. I didn't know the place so I pray I don't get lost. I stretched my legs so far that I found myself in a park so I just chilled with my earphones on. Minutes passed by till a total stranger came by and sat with me. In my head I'm like "Dear God if this is my death, can I die another time". The guy seated next to me was pretty scary since he had tattoos all over his arms and his face was covered wth a bucket hat so I obviously assumed that he was scary. The guy ended up breaking the silence. "Saw'bona ntokazi enhle". That language was new to me so all I heard honestly was "gdidjfgdfus". I panicked and responded without thinking saying "Bro all I have is my phone, I have no money on me, please don't kill me". The guy laughed so hard that his bucket hat fell on the floor. He picked it up then noticed that he is one handsome guy. If he was about to mug me,I wouldn't mind being mugged by him at all. He later on realised that I didn't understand his language and switched to speaking English. "Hi, I'm Mpendulo and I am not a thug". We both laughed then I also introduced myself. "Hi, I'm Candice, the girl that thought you were going to mug me". As we laughed, all I could see was his perfect smile. In a million years I could also relate to "love at first sight". Mpendulo is an awesome guy, I was totally wrong about him. We had a nice conversation till I told him I had to go home. He offered to accompany me, at first I wanted to refuse because I was like "what if he will kidnap me" but I ended up agreeing because the only reason I'm panicking is because he's black. We arrived at the corner near my home, then we exchanged numbers. He said he enjoyed spending time with me and so did I. He left then I was back home. As I entered mom was like "that was a long walk you took", then she laughed. I didn't answer her because I didn't want her to finish what she started in the afternoon in front of people this time around. I went to shower then came downstairs to eat then some time later after dad arrived, I said goodnight to everyone then went to my room. As I was about to sleep, I got a text from Mpendulo saying "Hey beautiful. I had a great day with you, I hope we can go out for lunch some other time. Hope you sleep well". I won't lie that was pretty sweet. I found myself blushing then I dozed off thinking about him.
