CHAPTER SIXTY-EIGHT

1004 Words
The girls quarters was not too far away whereas he was not allowed in the girls quarters, his only luck was that a would see a girl and ask her to call Bess for him or better she was already in the cafeteria but he knew the latter was not possible as the girls tended to take longer when getting ready. Sir Phillips sighed, he had thought he would stay longer at the infirmary that was why he gave the boys the order but he knew there was no way they would be in the cafeteria by now especially the girls. He rolled his eyes and his lips became a thin line. The madame could not even face him as she made her ridiculous demand. Vernon would not burn to a crisp if she stopped for a second to get Bess. It wasn't a strenuous task she gave him, it was an annoying task. It was one that had so many options. He scoffed his reply and made his way out. The best thing he could do was go to the cafeteria. Hopefully, he would see her there and if he did not, he would see a girl, he wouldn't mind any girl at this point. He almost closed the door with a loud bang but he considered Vernon who was lying unconscious on the bed. It was better he did not wake to a loud sound, scared. It was definitely not good for his health. He tried to keep a straight face as he made his way to the cafeteria, past the boys' quarters, and deeper into the building. Watching out for anybody, he saw a couple of boys along the way and he could not help but notice the smirk on their faces as they realized they would not be among those with toilet duties. However, he had completely forgotten about that as he had bigger problems at hand. He got to the cafeteria and threw the door open. He cringed in embarrassment as the door made a loud noise at the force. He usually didn't come here and now here he was causing a commotion. It took one scan around to realize that there were no girls here and the boys were only a handful. He closed his eyes tightly as he thought of his next action. He obviously didn't have a lot of options. The only one he could see was waiting and waiting was not a good idea. "Sir Phillips, what are you doing here?" A surprised voice asked. Sir Phillips turned around to see Madame Rachel staring at him with a surprised expression on her face. His face immediately broke into a smile, he could not remember the last time he was happy to see someone but he was genuinely happy to see her. "Madame Rachel," he called with a huge smile. "You have no idea how happy I am to see you." He grinned some more. "Why?" She chuckled. "This doesn't happen every day." "I need your help, it is a matter of life and death. Vernon woke up with a very bad fever, well woke up is a wrong term because till this moment he still has not opened his eyes. Though I have taken him to the infirmary, we still need Bess' help." He poured out quickly, not wanting to spend any more time here than he already had. "Vernon?" Her expression of surprise instantly changed to worry. "Fever? Is it that bad?" Sir Phillips almost rolled his eyes at her, if it wasn't would be here trying to find Bess? But, he didn't say that, rather he answered properly. "Very, Madame Prisca is currently trying to help with his temperature by placing a cold cloth on his head." He prayed to the heavens that was the right name of the Madame at the infirmary. "What could be the cause?" But even as she was asking, she was already making her way out of the cafeteria and Sir Phillips was hoping she was headed to the girls' quarters. A followed behind her but he knew his work here was done and she would definitely handle the rest which was relieving as he felt utterly useless and being at the scene would make his uselessness more obvious. He had nothing to worry about as Madame Rachel was as strict as she was kind. She would get the job done and was likely to do a better job than Madame Prisca who got his nerves by breathing. They finally got to the junction that separated the path to the boys' quarters from the girls. Madame Rachel didn't look back as she went towards the girls' section. Sir Phillips knew better than to follow her after she had literally just said his job here was done. He continued in his own path and headed for the boys' section. They would probably have a heart attack when they saw him but it would not stop him from going and hoping his presence would speed up their dressing. He stopped at the entrance of the boys' room and looked behind him before he ventured in. The gasps and panic that followed at his entrance were a thrill to watch. People who had been chilling on their beds jumped out of it and those who were busy tried to appear busier. "Relax," he called out. "You have ten minutes and then whoever is left or are left would get toilet duties." Sir Phillips almost chuckled as he spoke, it was pretty hard to keep a straight face. Another round of exclamation quickly followed but it ended quickly as they immediately got to work. He did not do much, just watched and helped a few of the little ones. His mind strayed to Vernon, he was not really worried as there was no sickness they've had at the academy that Bess had not been able to take care of. It was therefore safe to assume Vernon's case would not be any different.
