Vernon could not think of how or when he got into the room with him but it was safe to imagine that it was not that long ago. There was also the fact that Boy had definitely seen him walk to the bathroom and back. Boy must have watched him walk, else one would have assumed he touched his way to the bathroom.
Boy sighed and then Vernon heard footsteps like Boy was pacing. He wondered if Boy was going to answer him or not. No sooner did the thought crossed his mind that Boy started to speak.
"I don't know, I just know my sight doesn't change whether it is night or day." Boy explained and Vernon heard a sound like Boy had taken the seat opposite him.
"Oh," Vernon returned, not knowing how to respond to the piece of information he had been handed.
"I am not even sure if I have eyes." Boy gasped as if he had given information he shouldn't have. "You are not telling anybody I spoke to you, I am not supposed to." He sounded a little sad as he added the last part.
Vernon was still stuck on the part that Boy may not have eyes but responded according. "Of course not, I wouldn't dare." His interest was piqued besides, Dev and Nevil were the only ones he could tell, and he was sure they were tired of his shenanigans especially since the incident about his sister.
Boy leaned forward and touched him, "If you do, I will know and I know your sister." Vernon jerked his neck upwards and glared at Boy even though he couldn't see him. "Okay, that last past was a joke but truly I would know if you tell anyone."
Vernon shrugged Boy's hands off him and said, "Creepy."
"What?"
"You heard me."
"I am not creepy," Boy retaliated.
"Really, then who stands in the dark watching other people? Creepy people!" He said his answer a little too loudly.
"Well, I am not being creepy, I-I just happened to be there." Boy muttered, wondering why he was stuttering.
Vernon glared at him, of course, he didn't believe him one bit. "Then how did you find out about my sister?" He rolled his eyes as he asked.
Boy leaned backward, "I just happened to be passing by and I overheard um, okay fine. I tend to be a creep sometimes but that's because I have nothing better to do."
"What do you mean?" Vernon asked.
He had never really thought about it but Boy was a kid, from the sound of his voice he could tell that the age difference between them probably wasn't more than one or two with two being a very huge stretch.
He also realized that he had never heard anyone speak on a personal note about Boy. Marvis was a different case as he had only since him once and even Dev with all his years at the academy could count the number of times he had seen Marvis.
Lae however was always coming and going from the castle but even with that she still had a couple of relationships with the rest of the girls even if it was just Bess but according to Bess, she did stay with the girls whenever she was around.
However, he knew without a doubt that Boy was not a member of his room. He was certain of it. Unless whoever he had a relationship with had to keep it under wraps but one thing that was ever endless were stories of his creepiness about how he would scare them in dark places.
"Nothing," he murmured. "How do you feel?" He asked.
Vernon shrugged, "Not bad." Of course, he would prefer to be out of this bed and back in the room because that would mean he was well enough to be on his own but a part of his actually liked the silence. There was no sound of snoring or weird breathing, in some way it was comforting.
"And um, I uh don't know your sister. I only heard about her when I came early because I heard someone was sick and Bess could not heal them. It was all the Madame's could talk about. Your friends were here and I may have overheard your conversation."
Vernon cringed, squeezing his face. "What!" Boy yelled.
"Do you really want me to say it?" He asked with a brow lifted.
"No, I don't want to hear it." Boy replied and fell quiet.
Vernon waited for a couple of seconds before he spoke what has been on his mind since the moment he realized he was in the same room as Boy. "Is Boy your real name?"
"Oh," Boy said and paused, laughing awkwardly he answered, "Yes."
Vernon frowned, "You're joking right?"
"No, I am not." He chuckled awkwardly again. "I wish I was though."
"Why would your parents name you Boy?" Vernon frowned, he could not imagine his parents doing anything as ridiculous as that, even if his father wanted to his mother would have totally stood against it.
"Oh, it wasn't my parents," he muttered slowly, Vernon thought he sounded a little glum.
"Then who did?" Vernon asked.
"Nobody, it's short for invisible boy." Boy said, there was no emotion in his voice as he said those words.
Vernon's mouth fell open, it was all he could do to not exclaim out loud. "Why didn't your parents name you?" He asked after a couple of seconds.
"Well, I don't remember but if I recall currently from what the Madames said, my mother didn't want me and nobody thought to name me especially since the name Invisible Boy stuck but I don't mind it, I like to think it is not a completely bad name and it is definitely unique." The last part sounded sad and Vernon could not help but feel sorry for him.
"Why haven't you named yourself then? You know, give yourself a name you like." Vernon asked softly.
"Hmmm, I don't know. I have never thought about it but I am too lazy to come up with a name now and I doubt anybody will care. I think no matter what I am called, they would still call me Invisible Boy."
"I don't think so, I think people would call you by your name if they knew it and I am sure it is not too late now."
Boy shrugged, "Who cares? It is something I don't mind anymore."
"Are you always invisible?" It was a question nobody really knew the answer to but there were guesses that he had no real body.
"Yeah, I was born like this. At least I see why my mother didn't want me. I wouldn't want me." Boy replied.
"Come on, you don't know this, maybe they lied." Vernon hurriedly said, he couldn't imagine his mother never wanting him and he knew she would love him even if he was weird or creepy.
"They didn't tell me, I listened in on a conversation or two, maybe more. I don't see why they would lie each time and to each other." Boy stood to his feet. "Let me let you get some rest. I'll see you tomorrow."
"Wait," but Vernon knew Boy was no longer in the room with him, he didn't know why he knew but he did and he didn't even hear the door open or close.
