Vernon was bored, it had been a full thirty minutes since he took his bath and one thing was sure, Madame Prisca was not back, and from the looks of things she was not coming back any time soon. It was not that he wanted her coming but it was soothing to have somebody else other than him in the room.
He groaned this was t*****e of the highest order. He could not think of anything that was worse than the situation he was concurrently in. He rolled his eyes as he wondered what he could do.
He was very worried about his sister, he knew she was fine but the fact that he had not seen her for a full day was more alarming than he showed. It was all he thought and since the state of his health had not improved since the moment he stepped into the infirmary and there was a slight doubt in his heart that his sickness would pass quickly.
It bothered him of course but the reason it did was not because he could not move around but rather he could not see Penn, he was lying when he said his ache felt worse than training.
It did, if the training was normal but not the training he had been getting recently from Steven, he always felt like he had stumbled onto a lieon and it had used him as a chew toy. This was a least two times better than how he felt whenever Steven was down with him.
"Hello, Boy. Are you there?" He called out suddenly but was met with absolute silence. He almost smacked himself at the embarrassing act.
Of course, Boy wasn't here, it was a coincidence that they had the chat they did and he doubted it was ever going to happen again but a part of him wanted it to. Boy sounded like he needed some company.
He slowly got out of bed, he was tired of doing nothing but sleeping, eating, and thinking all day. Besides, the faster he started moving around again the faster his strength was likely to return.
He had a destination in mind, he wanted to see his sister, he just hoped he would be able to get there before a Madame sees him and forced him back to the infirmary, he doubted he could take another moment in there. Anything else at this point, he would even take the training just so he could leave the confinement.
He got to the door panting like he had just run the entirety of the courtyard. He looked at the bed and wondered if it was a good idea to leave. He didn't even have to think, he opened the door without another moment of thought.
The hallway was empty when he opened the door, he was sure he could remember the part but he was slightly worried he might run into Vivk, he had not seen the dwarf in a while. He wondered if Vivk knew he was sick but there was a very high chance he did.
He rested on the wall for support, he had no plans of acting tough because that was sure to make him more tired than he wanted, so if he had to use the wall for support, he totally would.
He soon arrived at Vivk's door, the writing on the walls and door still as clear as the first time he saw them even though it had been a couple of years. He didn't dwell on it too much as he sped past the door, he was not taking any chances, and knowing Vivk, he would not even give Vernon a chance to appeal before he would whisk him back to the infirmary.
As he passed the door, a part of him wondered why Vivk had not come to see him yet, Vivk most certainly must have heard he was sick and the infirmary was just a turn away from his workshop, office, Vernon never knew what to call it. He wondered if Vivk was too busy or he wasn't even in at all. That wasn't surprising, Vivk often made trips out of the academy occasionally.
The path from Vivk's door led him to another hallway, the one that led to the path of the cafeteria, the boys' quarters, and the girl's quarter. It also led to the main entrance. Of course, this was the path he was the most worried about as he could run into anybody especially a Madame.
He tried to hurry up but he did not want to fall, he knew he would definitely not want to get back up, so he took a slow and steady journey, praying that nobody would come down this path and he would make it to the children's section without incident.
Halfway down the path, he took a break. He completely stopped walking. A part of him wanted to go down on his bum and sit on the floor but he knew that was a bad idea, the chance that he would be able to stand back on his feet was zero and even if it was not, he was not ready to test it out just yet.
Satisfied that the break was enough, he continued pushing himself even harder. He was worried about when he got to the children's section as it was an open area and there were no walls to rest on. His real trouble was sure to start there.
He got to the end of the wall and threw himself off it immediately because he knew if he stalled, he might not find the courage to make the wall. He put one foot out and then the other, he didn't fall which was great, he could continue on.
From where he stood, he could see the children and it was safe to assume they could see him too. He smiled quickly as he continued his walk. He would rest when he got there, he thought and then he fell.
