Chapter Sixty-Five
The following day, Chief and Sam were up first and spoke quietly, hoping not to awaken the others.
“So, what do you think we should do with them?” Chief asked.
“I’m hoping they sleep in, and we can just leave before they get up.”
Chief nodded. “Dawn’s okay, but I don’t care for Adam. He seems slimy.”
As they spoke, they started getting breakfast together.
“Lucy wanted to offer to let them ride along with us. Safety in numbers and Adam’s youth would take some of the workload of Kara,” Chief stated.
“That would be a tight fit. We’ve got seats for eight, and that would be nine,” Sam pointed out.
“She said if they want to go, they’ll have to squeeze in. We aren’t going to.”
