Two days later, it was mid-afternoon, and the mood in the ORV Lucy was driving was unpleasant. Within an hour of starting the journey, everyone was ignoring Adam. He would comment on anything someone said, so everyone stayed silent. Now, they were into their second day of the journey, and it was tense and uncomfortable.
When they stopped for fuel, Chief told him to help, and he agreed but did nothing without being explicitly told and was more in the way than helpful. It didn't help matters to learn that Sam and Theresa were having an enjoyable time with Dawn and the kids. So, now, they rode in silence.
