Chapter Forty-Eight
The two lead ORVs turned around and raced back. They stopped one hundred yards from the disabled vehicle.
Kara sprinted toward them. “Who got shot?”
“Tyler, but he’ll be okay,” Chief replied.
Kara hurried over to her brother to see for herself that he was okay.
“Where’s Oliver?” Chief asked.
“He went back to assess the damage. Now that we eliminated the chance of a spark, it should be safe,” Marsha explained.
Before Chief could answer, they heard the high-pitched whine of electric motors spinning up. Turning, they saw one of the drones on the top of 4-22 rising into the air as Sam launched it. After the attack, they needed to know if there was anyone else in the area.
Chief walked toward Oliver, who was approaching. “Where’s the leak? Did you get it stopped?”
