Chapter Forty-One
Tyler and his sister, Kara, sorted through objects in a closet. It was interesting, getting their first experience of what pre-shelter life was like, but they were getting hungry and wanted to get out of the dust-filled house.
“Do you think these houses are salvageable?” Kara asked.
Tyler nodded. “If they got their roofs replaced, I don’t see why not. I don’t know where we’ll end up but seeing that there are some houses in this good condition is great news.”
The conversation was interrupted by everyone’s radios. “This is Jenny. There’s movement and blood behind the house.” There was excitement in her voice.
Everyone in the house raced for the door with Kara and Tyler in the lead. As they ran, they heard voices behind them. “What’s she doing behind the house?”
