Chapter Forty-Two
Wilbur’s first bath had been both exhausting and amusing. The young dog wasn’t impressed with the cold water but loved being wrapped up in a towel and dried off afterward. In the end, Jenny was almost as wet as the dog.
Now, the small convoy headed into the downtown area. They were looking for two things: a shopping district and a parking garage. Chief had picked this town because it looked large enough to have a parking structure.
While the radiation levels were in the tolerable range, they were still not desirable, so it was in everyone's best interest to find opportunities to reduce exposure. Getting underground for the night in the basement of a parking garage or large office building would make a big difference.
