Chapter Forty-Three
The two-person team cautiously rode into the shopping area. This type of mission occurred every few months. Someone would report seeing or hearing something, so riders mounted up and went to investigate. Most often, it turned out to be nothing. There were a few exceptions. Once, they encountered a bear that had wandered into town. That was exciting and gave them one more animal to document as not being completely extinct. Another time, they were shot at by people on motorcycles. One small group had fled when approached. A couple of others had been friendly, and one even joined their community.
