Chapter Twenty-Six
Alex, Marie, and Kevin entered the training room carrying all their possessions. They’d spent the previous evening visiting with friends and co-workers, saying goodbye. They’d made many close friends in the ten years they’d been under the surface, and departing was difficult. Those that were staying were sad. It was clear to all that the ones departing were the ones who’d fare better in the long run.
The training room was getting full. Kevin spotted his friend and teacher, David Cowan, and headed to him. “David!”
“Kevin! I’m glad to see you! One more friend I know that I’ll have in our new home.”
“Will you still be my teacher when we get to 104?”
“I don’t know. The leadership here sent all our records, skills, and current jobs ahead, and the leadership of 104 had to
