Chapter Sixty-Three Adam and Dawn sat in the living room of the house they’d occupied for the last week. The sun was going down, and the kids were in bed, hungry again. Adam had removed his shirt and Dawn was replacing the dressing on his shoulder. Three days before, a bullet had found his upper arm as he’d tried to get his family to safety. “What’s that noise?” his wife asked, glancing around in alarm. Adam was confused at first, but then he heard it too. Something was approaching.
