Chapter Thirty-Four When everyone else had headed out, Josh spoke, “Margy, take Adam to the drain on the far side of the parking lot. We’ll take the other and be quiet.” The parking lot had large drain openings built into the curb. These openings made it possible for those in the sewers to look out across the lot and into the park without being seen. As they quickly moved the twenty yards to their position, Cindy whispered, “Thanks for letting us stay.” “You’re coming of age. You need to start having more experiences.” They climbed into position and peered across the lot, curious as to what had caused one of the two lookouts to blow the whistle.
