11 Getting out of Darkside was easier than it could’ve been. I logged my fake flight plan and credentials and received automated departure orders. The Hearse’s auto-pilot responded, and the Moon fell away behind me. The next steps were a little trickier. They needed the finesse of an attentive human brain to tweak the controls. Mine would have to do. I needed my head in the game now, but just getting it on the playing field was getting harder and harder. That dull, fuzzy feeling was tickling the inside of my skull again. I’d look at the navscreen and see points on the galactic compass, but it took me a minute to recognize what they meant. It was hard to focus. Other, random thoughts kept invading my mind. I’d see Terris, splayed out on the deck, her fist tightly clutching my ship’s key.
