Mercy inherited The Slate from her father, Mickey, when he passed due to a sudden overdose of stunner fire. It happened in a dustup with some of the rebel-rabble who still insist SynCorp is evil and fight the good fight killing corporate soldiers to prove it.
I know you know who the Resistance is, but do you know where they come from? They’re the leftover true believers of that little coup attempt a while back, when that AI half-breed Cassandra tried to overthrow the Five Factions and remake the species in her—sorry, its—own image. They got a little drunk on Cassandra’s Kool-Aid, and we’re all suffering the hangover now. The Resistance thinks working for the Company’s just institutionalized servitude with a great health plan. And poor Mickey got caught in the crossfire.
