Chapter 2A familiar ring tone woke Donner from a heavy sleep. He patted the bedside table, came up empty, and lifted his head enough to glare at his discarded jeans folded on a chair across the room. With a mumbled curse, he climbed from the bed, made his way to his pants, and dug out the phone. After swiping the screen, he irritably mumbled, “Yeah?” “Donner?” He cringed as he recognized the voice. The only time this particular person called, trouble was about. “Yeah?” “The sleigh is gone.
