Episode 4: "The First Encounter"

279 Words
Liam led Sophia through the winding streets of Ravenswood, the darkness seeming to swallow them whole. The only sound was the crunch of gravel beneath their feet. "Where are we going?" Sophia asked, her voice barely above a whisper. Liam's eyes gleamed in the moonlight. "Somewhere you'll understand the truth." They stopped at an old, dilapidated house on the outskirts of town. "This is the place," Liam said, his voice low. Sophia's instincts screamed warning, but she steeled herself. Inside, the house was musty, the air thick with decay. Liam lit a candle, casting eerie shadows. "Your family's history is tied to this house," Liam said, his eyes locked onto hers. Sophia's curiosity piqued, she followed Liam to a hidden room. Photos adorned the walls, depicting her ancestors. "This is your legacy," Liam said, his voice filled with reverence. Suddenly, a cold breeze swept through, extinguishing the candle. Sophia's heart pounded. "What's happening?" Sophia whispered. Liam's eyes gleamed. "The shadows are stirring." A faint whisper seemed to caress Sophia's ear. "Welcome home." Sophia spun around, but no one was there. "What did you hear?" Liam asked, his voice low. Sophia hesitated. "A whisper. 'Welcome home'." Liam's expression turned grave. "It's begun," Liam said. "The veil is thinning." Sophia's world tilted. "What veil?" Sophia demanded. Liam's eyes locked onto hers. "The veil between worlds. Ravenswood is a nexus point." Sophia's mind reeled. Suddenly, the room plunged into darkness. Sophia was alone. "Liam?" Sophia called out. No answer. A faint glow emanated from the photos. Sophia's ancestors seemed to watch her. The whisper returned, louder. "Welcome home, Sophia." Sophia's blood ran cold. She was face-to-face with the unknown. To be continued...
