CHAPTER TWO

1020 Words
Sam held Arthur's hands and lightly dragged him into her office as she hurriedly shut the door. "I'm going to scold Arthur, he shouldn't be calling me babe in the office, it's embarrassing," Sam thought. As soon as she turned around to face Arthur, she felt warm lips on hers. She immediately closed her eyes to savor the taste while it lasted. As they were both lost in the sensation, the approaching footsteps jolted Sam back to her right senses as she roughly pushed Arthur away from her. The loud thump sound caused by Arthur's coalition with the chair made the approaching footsteps increase their pace. Sam quickly opened the door before rushing to Arthur who was groaning in pain. "Oh no, babe I'm so sorry," Sam said "You know I didn't mean to… she was suddenly interrupted by the director who barged into the office. "What's happening here?" Director Blake asked with a not-so-friendly look. He could tolerate everything but not office romance. He hated it whenever his subordinates dated each other. If he had his way, he would make office relationships come with a price - resignation from the organization but what could he do when the government that set up the organization didn't make such a law? "I just asked a question right now," Blake said with a higher tone. "Uhm, Director Blake, Mr Lloyd here missed his step and he tripped, "Sam said looking at Arthur who was struggling to get up. "So a grown man tripped and fell in an office?"Blake asked with an unconvinced face. He knew something was fishy. "Arthur didn't just trip and fall, Sam must have pushed him," Blake thought to himself. "I did fall, Director Blake," Arthur said, trying to convince the director. "If you say so" Director Blake replied " Now stand up, go get yourself treated " he added before turning to Sam, just then his eyes caught Sam's discolored lips, her red lipstick was smashed and appeared unevenly on her lips. Blake sharply turned back to Arthur and kept a long stare on his lips where he saw the same red lipstick on Sam's lips on Arthur's lips as well. "Oh goodness, these two were kissing in the office," Blake said loudly. While Arthur was trying hard to prevent himself from smiling broadly, Sam was shocked Blake found out and she got utterly ashamed of herself, she immediately looked down as if she was boiling inside of herself. "Argh, so annoying" Director Blake said before storming out of Sam's office. Sam immediately rushed to Arthur's lips before wiping the remnant of her lipstick from his mouth with her hands but Arthur caught her hands and put it around himself, holding it tightly. " What do you think you're doing right now, Arthur?" Sam whispered. "Let me go, the door is open, someone might come in," she said anxiously. "Then I can lock the door," Arthur replied, grinning mischievously. "Can you just stop already?" Sam said. She was scared of being caught. Yes, she knew everyone in the office was aware of her engagement to Arthur but she wasn't a fan of public display of affection in the office. " I'd see you later, Mr Lloyd" Sam said with a serious face. Arthur laughed at her serious poker face before leaving her office. As soon as Arthur left the office, the smile on his face vanished as he took his phone and dialed a number with the user ID 'my girl'. Sam sighed in relief when Arthur left, she decided to redo her lipstick as she went closer to her bag to pick up the lipstick, her phone alarm rang. The alarm was to call her wedding seamstress for the wedding gown fitting her wedding was in four days. Immediately she picked up her phone and put a call to the seamstress before attending to her lips. **At the green hill Laura is seen pacing her room with a brooding face. She has always supported Sam in every step of the way but she couldn't just bring herself to accept Arthur. She just didn't like him for her daughter, to her Sam deserved the best and to her, Arthur was not the best. She picked up her phone to call Stephanie, Sam's older sister. "Hello mum" Stephanie's lazy voice was heard from the other line " Stephanie!! Child!!, Can't you talk some sense into your sister's head" Laura complained bitterly. "Mum! Mum!! Mum!!!" "Can you just hear yourself?" Stephanie answered, raising her voice. " What do you want Samantha to do right now?" "Call off a wedding that is in less than three days?" "That's ridiculous Mom". "Ohh, don't you dare raise your voice at me, Stephanie!" "I'm still your mother you brat!" Laura replied. "I know the best for both you and Samantha," Laura said " If only you listened to me when I warned you about Wade, you wouldn't have been a divorcee right now" Laura yelled. "I'm done here, Mrs. Laura Armstrong," Stephanie said before hanging up. "Hello! Hello!!" Laura shouted. " "That rude brat hung up on me," she said angrily before throwing her phone on her bed and screaming at the top of her voice. Stephanie also didn't like Arthur for Sam. He wasn't exactly the typical example of the word handsome, Sam was his boss at work, she earned more than him and what she hated the most was that, Sam was footing most of the wedding expenses all in the name that Arthur was earning lesser than Sam and her dumb sister didn't see anything wrong in that. To crown it all, Arthur would start living in Sam's penthouse, getting all the luxury her sister worked her ass for. But Stephanie was ready to give Arthur the benefit of the doubt, he might be lacking financially but he might end up being a better partner to her sister than Wade was to her. After all, Wade was her knight in shining armor, he took care of all her needs and all but what ended it? Stephanie sighed defeatedly before calling Sam.
