CHAPTER FOUR

Sam kept expecting to feel a bite on her skin but it never came. All she heard was a loud fall and growlings. She forced her eyes open and she saw a bigger white wolf fighting the black wolf that tried to attack her.

It was time to run Sam, her head kept telling her but the whole forest was flooded due to the heavy rain she wouldn't be successful in that attempt. She resigned to fate, as she saw that the black wolf was already dead and the white wolf was coming towards her.

Sam saw pity in the eyes of the wolf but she couldn't understand why or perhaps "It's because I'm dying that's why I'm seeing things " Sam thought. Just as the wolf was two steps away from her, Sam blacked out and all that was heard was the echoes of loud howling in the forest.

"We need to find Sam," Laura said.

"Where's your sister Stephanie?" She asked, already crying.

"Mom, let's give Sam a break, we just heard what Amanda said " Stephanie replied. "The wedding was called off and Sam found out just now " " She'd be so devastated, let her be for now Mom, I'm sure she'd come around " Stephanie reasoned.

"I'm so going to kill Arthur if anything bad happens to my daughter," Laura said angrily and Stephanie could only sigh in defeat.

"Mm. Mm", Sam was groaning in her sleep and just then she weakly opened her eyes, looking around her. Nothing looked familiar and she got lost in thought.

" Finally, you're awake" a deep masculine voice that sounded like flowing waters spoke. Sam looked up and she was stunned. Standing before her was a breathtaking man, with a perfectly sculptured lips, jaw, and nose everything about this stranger was enticing and her heart couldn't help but skip a beat - not out of fear but admiration

"How are you feeling?" He said distracting Sam from her thoughts.

"Uhm, I'm fine" Sam stuttered but "who are you and where am I?" She asked, looking deep into his hands. "Those eyes look familiar," Sam said "Why does it look like the white wolf I saw in the forest" she unknowingly said it out loud.

" Yes, I'm the wolf that saved you"

" I'm Ryan Logan by the way, " Ryan said, smiling at Sam with his hands stretched toward her.

"I'm Samantha Armstrong, Sam for short" Sam replied, shaking Ryan. They both kept staring at each other and Sam wanted to keep getting lost in his ocean-blue eyes.

" Come, let's get you up, you've been unconscious for three days already," Ryan said

"Can you tell me what happened in the woods and how I got here?" Sam asked.

" Well after I killed the black wolf, you passed out so I carried you on my back and got you here " Ryan explained while Sam looked around at the beautifully decorated room.

"So you mean I'm still in the forest right now?" Sam asked.

"Yes.." Ryan replied

"Then how are you human?" Sam said curiously. "You were a …" she was cut off by Ryan's sudden reply.

" I can shred my skin," Ryan said before leaning towards Sam and whispering to her ears " I shouldn't be telling you this but the wolves at the white waters park can shred their skin for some hours but we have to turn back to wolves before our allocated time elapse.

" Oh, now I see," Sam said, " Can you show me around," she asked him. Ryan took Sam's hand and led her out of his cave house.

Sam kept stealing glances at Ryan, she did know why but she felt so safe around him, she didn't feel this safe and comfortable around Arthur. Everything felt so different.

"Ahh.." Sam screamed as she felt her face fall into a soft and well-structured chest.

"Are you okay?" Ryan asked genuinely. Sam looked around and saw a wolf growling at her. " The wolf was coming for you, Sam," Ryan added. He communicated with the wolf before leaving the scene with Sam.

As they kept walking, different wolves kept staring at them. "They're surprised," Ryan said. "They've never seen me shred skin before, I never liked it" he explained.

" So why did you shred your skin now?" Sam asked

" Because of you Sam" Ryan said and Sam's heart skipped. " You looked scared of me that night in the woods, so I thought.." he was interrupted by Sam suddenly hugging him.

"Thank you for protecting me, Ryan," Sam said with a smile. Ryan's inner wolf growled with excitement which he couldn't understand why.

The two went round the forest, looking at its beauty. She wanted to sit on the branch of a tree but she couldn't get there.

"May I?" Ryan asked as his hands were stretched towards her waist. Sam slightly looked away blushing before nodding. Ryan gently carried her to the branch before letting her sit on it.

Sam couldn't help but laugh and smile as she felt the happiness she's always longed for. But little did she know that two pairs of eyes were meaning staring at her and Ryan.

"I can hear the waters flowing," Sam said. "I want to check it out, " she smiled.

" Do you need help?" Ryan asked.

" No, I can handle this, " Sam said before jumping down. Luckily for her Ryan jumped right after and saved her head from hitting the root. She realized what just happened and she faced Ryan but she got tongue-tied, her heart was pounding, and she felt butterflies in her belly. Sam saw Ryan leaning forward to her and she expected a kiss but just as he was an inch away they were interrupted by the growl behind them.

" We have to leave now Sam" Ryan said in a low tone " I'd bring you here some other time, I promise," he said before leading her back to his cave house.

Ryan was invited by the elder council of the park. He knew he would have to answer a lot of queries but he needed to do something as well. He was the Head Alpha and the strongest in the park, they'd have to listen to all his commands.

He was about to do something crazy but he could blame him, his wolf finally gave the confirmation sign, Sam was his long-awaited mate, his fated mate. He thought about how the council would react, they've never had a full human as a mate of a wolf, why was his case different?

He let out a tensed sigh as he stood in front of the council office. "Well let the dice get rolling," Ryan said before strolling in.
