Chapter Five

2011 Words
Delilah’s POV My mom hugged me before she answered the door. Yep, it was Zander, he looks great. I don’t see him in a tux very often but he can pull it off. Which wasn’t surprising at all. He hugged my mom before coming in and stopping to stare at me. “Wow Delilah, you look beautiful,” he said with a big old smile on his face. I couldn’t help it. I started to laugh and he joined in. We aren't the complimenting type. Besides, I already know I look great. “Oh by the way Tobias came with so you’ll have to sit in the back” “Alpha Tobias?” I was confused, “why did he come?” “He needed a ride,” he said as he shrugged his shoulders. Zander may be the most observant person I know but he's always been oblivious to how his brother treated me growing up. I gave my mom one last hug before I walked over to Zander, who had his elbow out for me to grab. I slid my arm in and grabbed his bicep as he walked me out the door. My mom called goodbye and I turned around to wave at her. When I turned back around I saw the door open and Tobias get out of the car stepping up on the curb “Hello Alpha, How are you tonight?” I asked with a quick smile. I didn’t wanna make eye contact for too long. It was the weirdest thing standing next to him. He smelt like sandalwood and pine. That’s the same smell that distracted me earlier today. Weird. “I am well Delilah, are you ready for dinner?” He asked as he opened the front passenger door for me to get in. I wanted to get in as fast as possible, his formality was odd considering he didn't say anything to tease me. As I climbed in I felt my hand graze his ever so softly causing me to gasp slightly and sending a pleasurable sensation through me. I felt safe at that moment. That was weird. I climbed in and he closed the door but he stood there for a second before getting in. Did he feel that too? Zander started the car and began driving towards the restaurant. “So are you ready for your birthday next week?” Zander asked me, pulling me out of my thoughts. “Yes I love my birthday,” I looked at him. “I know the hopeless romantic in your hopes I find my mate,” I said with a little giggle. I love making fun of the romantic side of him. Whoever his mate is, she's gonna be one lucky girl. However deep down I was nervous another year would go by without finding my mate. “Hey now” he chuckled. “That's just a bonus if you do find your mate, but you will be 21. You will officially be an adult.” I sighed, maybe I will meet my mate. We were outside the restaurant. I was in awe of how beautiful it was. It has floor-to-ceiling windows, intricate designs painted along the side of the building in between the windows and the awning is the most beautiful teal color. I was pulled out of thought when my door opened and Tobias was there holding out his hand for me. I nervously reached out my hand and grabbed his. The feeling was back as I climbed out of the car with my hand in his. My eyes met with his. I don't think I have ever looked into his eyes before. Not like this anyways. They are the most beautiful shade of violet. Just like his mom's. He is as gorgeous as a man can be. He’s a bit taller than me at 6’4, he’s built like an alpha. He’s muscular with broad shoulders and tan skin. His jaw is perfect and his features are sharp. His shirt seemed like it fit him like a glove, hugging every curve of his musclesz His short black hair and stubble made his violet eyes pop more. Dark eyelashes fell over his eyes in the most dreamy way. His biceps are probably double the size of mine and I’m a good fighter. “Oh, I’m so sorry” I realize now, that I was staring. He didn’t answer right away and just kept staring into my eyes. I couldn't place the emotion on his face, but I could see his eyes as they burned with desire. “There’s nothing to be sorry for,” he said, snapping out of it and moving my hand to rest on his bicep. I looked down slightly and I could feel myself blushing. It's way more noticeable when I blush because of my porcelain skin. I couldn’t help but have a small smile holding his arm though. The past flew out of my mind as I was overwhelmed by desire for him. When we walked into the restaurant, I instantly saw Luna Sarah. She looks stunning. She has her shoulder-length hair down and a black dress that goes just below her knees. Her matching set of pearl earrings and necklace compliments her outfit nicely. She saw me and stood up. I hurried over to her and gave her a huge hug. “Thank you so much for the invite,” I told her. “Oh of course! It’s always a pleasure to have you dear.” We made our way to the table and ordered 4 glasses of water. Luna Sarah also ordered a glass of Wine. Zander just turned 21 a month ago, so he ordered a beer and Tobias didn’t want anything besides water. We all ordered steaks with various sides. Mashed potatoes, corn, green beans, rice, and garlic bread. We passed them around the table. I’ve never been here before but boy is this steak good. Dinner was going amazing. We were talking about Zander's birthday party a couple of weeks ago when I got a call from my dad telling me that my mom had hurt herself making dinner. “I need to go, my mom got hurt” I took one more bite, looking around the table they each had a look of concern on their faces. “From what I can tell it’s not too serious thankfully!” They all visibly relaxed and I started to turn to leave. Zander grabbed my hand “Delilah let me drive you” he offered since our pack doctor lives on the outskirts of our territory about half an hour out. “That’s okay Zander thank you! It’ll be much faster if I let Demi run us!” I started running out of the building forgetting that you need to undress if you want to keep the clothes you currently have on from being shredded during the shift. I turned around and thankfully Zander was there. “Zander come here” I yelled out and he ran over to me. I saw Tobias was coming out too. Ugh, I didn’t wanna undress in front of the Alpha giving him more ammo to shoot insults at me. “I need you to take my shoes and dress home for me. I can’t ruin my mom's dress. Oh, and Zander don’t peek!” Zander’s big frame was able to block me pretty well so I was able to get out of my shoes and I dropped the dress down making it pool at my feet and stepped out of it. It was a little chilly standing there in my matching set of black lace panties and bra. I don’t care if these get ruined. I told Demi we had to go. It took less than a minute before I was shifting into my wolf. I don’t shift in public very often but my mom was hurt and I need to get there. Demi is all black not a spot or a hair of different color could be found. At least that’s what I heard it’s not uncommon to be a black wolf but most have at least one other color to them. I was black as night the only thing that made me noticeable in the dark was my bright gold eyes. I turned and nodded at Zander as my way of saying thank you. I could see just past him Tobias was standing there with a look of awe on his face. There was no way even as big as Zander is, that he could block the view of me in my wolf form. This is Tobias’s first time seeing me as a wolf. I turned and ran away running as fast as I could to get to the pack doctor's house. When I got there I could see a huge gash on my mom's forehead and a cut across her arm. I could only see through the window, if I shifted back now I would be completely naked. My mom could sense my presence even though I was outside, and looked over to me and gave me a look trying to reassure me that she was okay. I could see Daphne sitting next to her. Honestly, they could be sisters, my mom had Daphne young and they look just alike. Daphne is tall with light brown hair and brown eyes. She was slightly tanner than my mom and way more than me. She is beautiful. Daphne noticed my mom was looking out the window and quickly turned and could see me standing there in my wolf form, she quickly rushed looking around for anything I could wear. She found one of those paper-thin hospital gown things and brought it out to me. She blocked me from any possible bystanders so I could shift back and put the gown on. After I was back to my normal self I gave Daphne a huge hug. I haven't seen her in a while. I know she’s busy with work all the time but I miss her. She hugged me back and motioned me inside. When I got to the room my mom was in I ran sitting next to her. “What happened?!” I kinda yelled, I didn’t mean to be concerned and stressed, but they were just gonna have to deal with it. “I’m not sure honestly, I remember that I got dizzy. I must've fainted and hit my head on the counter. The knife most likely got me on the way down. But I will be okay honey, don't worry.” “Dad found her and brought her here. He’s in the bathroom” Daphne said, giving me a small smile. You can tell that she is just as stressed as I am. When my dad came out and saw me he walked over and gave me his coat. This gown doesn’t cover much or keep you warm. “Thank you, dad, I’m freezing.” He came over and tucked me in his shoulder rubbing my arm to try to warm me up. Shortly after the pack doctor Dr. Claude came in with everything he needed to clean my mom up. Dr. Claude needed to put a butterfly bandage on her forehead and a few on her arm. We heal faster but not instantly. So we don’t need stitches but we do need to keep the wound as closed as possible. From there we loaded up in my dad's ‘88 Ford Bronco. He has a passion for older cars. When we got home I ran straight upstairs and changed out of my lovely hospital gown. With my hair and makeup done from going to dinner, I should’ve been on the cover of some hospital fashion magazine. I laughed in my head at the thought. I changed into my favorite silk PJs. They are a set of cute silk pink shorts and a nice silk tank top. It didn’t take me long to fall asleep once I hit my fluffy bed.
