Jane’s shoulders slumped when I entered Bind Me Again. Princess trotted up to me, happy as a cat could be. She purred while weaving between my legs.
“Is something wrong?” I asked, fearing Dusty came back.
“No, well not really. I got my driver’s license.” Jane waved her wallet in the air. “I was about to close the store to help you guys, but it looks like I’m too late.”
Princess head-butted my shin. I scooped her into my arms as her purrs resonated louder. “Not to rub it in, but it went really good. I got a ton of news,” I said.
“Great. Tell me everything.”
I scanned the store as we headed towards the counter. No customers. From the lack of footsteps, it didn’t sound like anyone was upstairs either. Odd for a Friday.
