My plan to keep Roger so distracted he forgot about Brighid’s statue worked for six days. On the seventh day since our arrival, Roger woke me early. “Will you let me take you to Brighid’s statue, today?” Roger asked, nuzzling my neck. “I’m sleeping. Wake me later,” I murmured. Roger shifted away from me and out of the bed. The warmth of his body was replaced with the morning chill. As I tried to grab the blankets to cover myself, they were yanked out of my hands, and the breeze of the cloth floating above me blew more cold air onto me. I groaned when the cover didn’t fall again to warm me. Forcing myself to open my eyes, I saw my husband standing over me with a mischievous grin. “Breakfast is on its way.
