Ace clicked his fingers nervously on his chair arm. The next words that would come out of the man in front of him will determine his fate.
Stop being dramatic! the voice inside his head yelled.
'Well, son...'
Here it comes...
'You got the job!'
Ace sighed in relief and smiled happily. He was now a member of the Official Vukovi IT team. He had access to classified data all around the country. He had wowed his interviewer with his computing skills. It had taken him several decades to master the art of codes but he had finally done it.
The best thing about being a Hybrid is, no one would hesitate to hire you. You live forever, which is a plus in the business world. They save money that way.
His job was preventing any hacks to the system and updating it every now and then. His interviewer, a middle aged human male, got up and scanned his face with a black device. Ace's face ID was in the government's records now.
'Alright kid, you'll get notified with the job you're needed to do in a day or 2.' Ace nodded and started picking up his stuff.
Ace carried his screening devices as he left the building. All his files were on them. Paper used to be the main source of information a century ago. Ace couldn't imagine life back then. He also read something about 'paper cuts' and they sounded painful.
It all happened so quickly. One moment he was walking on the sidewalk peacefully, and the other he was sprawled on the cement ground, his devices surrounding him. Good thing he payed the extra notes for the bulletproof ones. But he couldn't let that distract him from what was on hand.
A dark haired boy had bumped into him and kept right on walking without batting an eye. A girl with boyish looking, brown hair stopped immediately and started picking up Ace's devices. He looked at her in wonder as she lifted him up. She had green, glowing eyes.
Well, that explains why she helped me.
Ace thought he saw a flash of blue when the boy had scurried past him. He must have been hallucinating though. No Blue, in their right mind, would walk around without taking their elixir.
The girl handed him his stuff, apologised, and ran to catch up with the boy.

'YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE LEFT HER ON HER OWN!' Arrow yelled at Demi. They were both in the elevator leading up to Demi and Alex's flat.
'I gave her the elixir this morning. Besides, I don't think there is any reason for her to get mad in the 2 hours I've been away.'
Arrow glared at her. Demi gulped.
Arrow rushed to the door and the laser scanned him. His face ID was added a few years ago when an incident, involving Demi being away and Alex not getting any elixir, happened.
The second the door opened, they were both ready for the horrific scene that was most likely there.
Arrow c****d a brow. Demi sighed.
'See?' Demi said.
Alex went into a sitting position. Her dark red locks were sticking up and on her forehead. She has obviously been sleeping for quite some time. But not yet enough considering her lack of sleep the last 3 days.
'Sup Quinn, you look paler than usual,' she said groggily. Arrow sighed. He knew Alex would never call him by his first name. So he always returns the favour.
'Creed.'
Demi could see that Alex was still half asleep. She went over to the couch and fluffed her pillow and pushed her back down softly.
'Have some sleep, love. Dinner would probably be ready by the time you're up.'
'It better be pizza...' Alex mumbled before she zoned out again.
