Year 3158, Present day__    Her head throbbed. Her whole body ached. She could barely stay on her feet. Focus Her heart-rate was faster than what was considered normal. Focus! She staggered into the familiar hallway, grasping her head from the sides. It was this time of the month again. FOCUS!!! The word went through her brain one last time and everything stopped. No more thinking.  tick tick The alarm sounded from her watch faintly. 'About bloody time!' she yelled.  Right on cue, Demi, who was the closest thing to a friend she had, walked over and handed her a bottle and a syringe. "You don't have to be loud," she scolded. Alex glared at her. "You don't know this this feels," she said as she filled her syringe with the liquid, "You're a green. That's the best one. You don't have to worry about killing people if you forget medication. You don't even have to take it." And with that, she injected the golden liquid into her arm. She sighed and visibly relaxed. It was true. Demi didn't have to worry about anything. Alex and her were both transplanted with the immortal chips at birth. Most hybrids stopped growing after 17. Only difference were the side effects. Demi's eyes turned green when she's happy. Only made her annoyingly positive, to Alex's dismay. Alex on the other hand, was extremely dangerous when she got mad. Her eyes would turn bloodshot red and she would instantly have the urge to hurt others around her. Her elixir was the only thing stopping her from murder. All the reds who have been spotted have been murdered on the spot. Alex has managed to get by, unnoticed for 53 years. There were three types of 'hybrids'. Green, Blue, and Red. Each one had a unique quirk. Green was the most common one, with their ability to control plants. Blue were a bit more uncommon. They had the ability to read human minds and human minds only. That's why they were feared at first. Their side effects puts them in a psychotic trans of sorts. They were not as bad as the Reds. Blues were only allowed to exist if they had proof they took their elixir. And that is why, all medications found in shops were the silver liquids Blues needed. Occasionally, a few bottles of a bronze liquid were spotted in shops. Greens needed them sometimes. But, they preferred not taking it to prevent depression. When you're a hybrid, and with the whole 'never dying thing', depression was very likely. Alex had that. Alex had tried committing suicide multiple times. She would've succeeded if it wasn't for Demi.  "You did it again haven't you?" Demi asked disapprovingly. Alex's black shirt was covered in dark stains. There was a small fresh cut under her chin. There was something visibly wedged in one of her pockets. "Alex!" Demi yelled. Alex rolled her eyes. She was in for it. Again. "How many?" Demi asked in a quieter voice. Alex extracted 3 bottles of the golden liquid out of her trouser pocket and handed them over. "He wouldn't hand them over nicely. Even after I gave him the notes," Alex said matter-of-factly. She made her way to her room.  'Hold it.' Alex stopped in her tracks, ready for another argument. Demi sighed.  'Listen, I don't wanna stop you from your rarely taken naps but you have to eat something. Maybe a nice sandwich or a-' 'No,' Alex responded venomously before she gave her friend her back. 'I'm not hungry,' she added with a calmer tone. 'Oh, well, at least let me fix you up,' Demi perked up. Alex chuckled. Her roommate was always desperate to help others. She merely shrugged at her. 'Sure, why not?' She watched as her hazel eyes turned a glowing-green.  'What are you doing?' Alex asked, when all of a sudden her collar was being inspected. 'Whose blood is this? Is it yours?' Demi asked with a frown.  'No.' Demi pointed at the cut on her chin. 'So, just the cut?' 'Just the cut,' Alex confirmed. Demi shrugged. 'You've had worse. Like way wors-' 'Can we please get this over with?' 'Hmm? Yeah sure, I'll just go get a bandage.' Alex watched as the brunette scurried off to the bathroom cabinets.  After her wound was cleaned, a healing band was placed. It would help the skin completely heal in a few hours. 'There! All better. Now you better change before going to bed. Blood is hard to clean off the sheets,' Demi ordered. Alex nodded meekly and dragged herself towards her room.
