The devil's promise

chapter 4 four

Janet sits alone in the campus cafeteria , stirring at the melting ice in her drink absentmindedly, when her phone rings , she looks at the screen it has private number in bold lettering, she glances around to make sure no body who watching or listening to her , then she picks up the phone ,she didn't hesitate. "Hello" she says in voice barely above a whisper ,a familiar voice comes through the speaker "report"

"They have met,"

A brief silence

"And Alvin."

"He couldn't take his eyes off her"

Another pause, then the voice replys"keep watching her don't let her suspect a thing"and the line goes dead. Janet stares at her blank screen for a long time before putting it into her bag and just then Brielle calls out to her"Janet what are you doing over there?" She looks up smiles at Brielle, the same smile she has been using since the past 3yrs of their friendship and responded "nothing much just waiting for my lil sister to get me some food stuffs na you know how this campus be , everything just dey expensive " tiltes her head up and says" what are you doing after school tomorrow " Brielle responds saying "tomorrow is Saturday there is no lecture s tomorrow , am basically a free bird" Janet laughs as their discussions slowly drifts to classes, courses and lessons of that day and eventually Brielle goes to class alone while Janet waits behind for her sister.

Meanwhile........

Alvin is distracted in the board meeting by this unsettling feeling in his chest that the can't quite wrap around his fingers , and Charles being very much observant, notices his mood and ends the meeting quickly, as the staffis gathers up and leaves, Charles clears his throat and says"your thinking about that girl again "Alvin doesn't respond immediately he takes a deep breath and responds"go find out if she is safe, ad report thing to me exactly as it is""yes sir " Charles replys as he takes his leave

Back in class Brielle is finds it difficult to concentrate as her mind keeps going back to Daisy and her warnings that day, unfortunately the lecturer has been asking her a question for the past 2mins ,and has gotten no response from her, until will tugs at her sleeves , before her attention is caught and finds out that the class is staring at her , so she asks"what happened"the lecturee gets annoyed and embarrassed and asked her to leave his class,which she politely does.

Daisy sitting in the back of her car after getting the information she sighs to herself as she says"if Alvin has found her,then we don't have much time*she picks up her phone and makes a call and immediately it connects she says"bring me everything about Brielle Cole".......................
